유리에 투영된 미(美)의 이미지 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 대학원 석사학위 청구 논문으로서 2002년부터 2004년 사이에 제작된 본인의 작품들 중 2004년 12월에 있었던 석사 학위 청구전 <美>에 발표된 작품들을 위주로 하여 내용적(內容的), 조형적(造形的) 측면에서 연구 분석한 것이다. 본인은 신윤복의 미인도를 한국적인 미인의 전형으로 보고, 현대사회에 있어서 한국 고유미의 부재 상황을 작품으로 표현하였다. 이러한 오늘날의 실상을 유리라는 매체에 각인시켜 투영된 시각적 이미지를 이용함으로써 오늘날의 상황을 표현하고자 하였다. 이렇게 투영된 이미지는 마치 옛 것의 소중함, 아름다움을 잊은 채 살아가는 우리의 모습 속의 전통처럼 그림자로 비춰져 나타난다. 전통이 현대에 반영하는 지금의 시점을 표현한 것이다. 또한 본인은 판화의 조형적 특성 안에서 전통과 현대라는 상반된 공간의 조화로운 만남을 위하여 종이와 유리판 사이의 중첩된 공간구성을 의도하였으며, 시각적 효과의 극대화라는 측면에서 본인의 작품세계를 보다 잘 드러내는 결과를 주었다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 전통과 현대를 연결하는 두 공간의 중첩과 빛을 통한 투영으로써 미(美)에 대한 새로운 이미지(Image)를 조형화하는 표현에 중점을 둔 작품논문이다. 유리의 투명함 때문에 문득 잘 보이지 않지만 분명 존재하는 ‘흔적’을 새김으로써 ‘빛’이라는 희망적 존재가 있을 때에 비로소 ‘그림자’로 조합된 ‘결정체’이다. 이로 인해 보는 사람으로 하여금 전통회화의 선의 강렬함과 묘한 상상력을 자아냄으로써 현시점이 갖고 있는 문제를 제시하고자 하였다. 본 논문은 크게 내용적(內容的), 조형적(造形的) 측면에서 연구 분석한 것이다. 먼저 내용적 측면에서는 [작품의 내용 연구]라는 제목으로 본인 작품의 전개과정에 있어 표현하고자 한 내용을 연구 분석한 것이다. 다음으로 조형적 측면에서는 [조형 및 기법 연구]라는 제목으로 본인의 작품에 나타난 조형적 요소와 기법을 서술하였다. 본 논문을 통하여 본인의 표현세계를 돌아보는 계기로 삼게 되었으며, 앞으로의 작품 활동에 있어서 새로운 원동력이 되는데 그 의의를 갖고자 한다.|On December, 2004, an exhibition of <Beauty(美)> was held with the art works made I analyzed the contents and model of my works. I considered Shin-yunbok’s ‘Mi-in-do’ as a model of a beauty, and depicted the essential of the beauty in modern times. The actual situations of today are expressed by the visual image projected through the medium of a glass. The projected image reflected the tradition in our lives. We, however, often forget the importance and the beauty of the tradition. And I expressed a harmony between the tradition and the modern using a print. A paper was spaced out a small gap from a glass for the harmony of them. The spaced paper gave the visual effects successfully for the meaning of my works. The projected image in the spaced paper with a small gap from the glass presents the beauty of the tradition and the modern simultaneously. An image of the print over glass is clearly visible, only if the light is. That is, the image presents the tradition in the modern times. The strength and the imagination of the traditional aspects in my works showed an absence of the true beauty in modern times. In the following section, the research of the contents expressed in my works was analyzed. And the techniques and the elements of the model in my works were described. I could review my works taking this opportunity of writing out this article. It is meaningful motive to me in my future works.
