원을 통한 사의적 표현연구

Abstract

This thesis studied the works on 'Points on the Line' before the master's degree claim based on the work done since 2019.

For artists, the presentation of the inner thoughts and the mind is as important as the external representation or expression. In oriental painting, this kind of inner expression is called speculative expression, and it also is a method of expressing an artist's thoughts or intentions in works. As the researcher, I focused the work on personal speculative expression, and the screen is composed of an abstractive expression method. This work has the form of repetitive thinking of everyday events and visualizes the process of shaping the invisible and abstract concepts that exist within as the abstract expression that removes metaphors or objects.

I worked through abstract concepts such as daily conversations and scenes through the figure of a circle, formative elements such as lines, colors, dots, blank spaces, and shapes of every day. In particular, about the circle shape, the work took the interpretation from religious, philosophical, and mathematical perspectives, and I described the circle in a private sense to focus on oneself.

In this thesis, I studied how the work was developed through one's thoughts and insights when visualizing invisible and abstract things in the inner expression, mainly classifying the work into relationships, presentation of circles, and everyday subjects. In addition, in the middle of shaping daily life, it became an opportunity to objectively view the phenomenon with a contemplative attitude and restrain emotions and thoughts. Although the work lies in the ordinary life of the individual researcher, I hope that it will become the starting point of thinking and finding the center of usual relationships of people living at the same time.|본 논문은 2019년부터 진행한 작업을 바탕으로 ‘선 위의 점’ 석사 학위 청구전의 작품들을 연구하였다.

예술가들에게 외형적 재현이나 표현 못지않게 정신과 내면의 표현은 중요한 문제이다. 이러한 내면의 표현을 동양화에서는 사의(寫意)라 하며, 미술가의 생각이나 의중을 그림에 표현하는 방법이다. 연구자의 작업은 사의적 표현을 기반으로 하며, 추상의 표현방식으로 화면을 구성하였다. 연구자의 작업은 일상의 사건의 반복적 사유를 통해 조형화되는데, 이런 내면에 존재하는 비가시적인, 추상의 개념들을 형상화 하는 과정은 비유나 대상을 제거하는 추상(抽象)표현으로 시각화된다. 연구자는 일상의 대화나 장면 등의 추상적 개념을 원이라는 도형과 선, 색, 점, 여백 등의 조형요소와 일상의 형상들을 통해 조형화하였다. 특히 원이라는 도형에 대해 종교적, 철학적, 수학적 관점에서의 해석을 연구하였고, 작품에서는 사의적의미로 스스로 중심을 다잡고자 사용하였음을 서술하였다.

본 논문에서는 작품을 크게 관계, 원의 표현, 일상적 소재로 분류하여 서술하면서 내면의 표현에서 비가시적이고 추상적인 것들을 시각적으로 조형할 때, 연구자의 사상과 사유를 통해 어떠한 방식으로 작품이 전개되었는지 연구하였다. 또한 연구자 스스로의 일상을 조형화하는 과정에서 관조적 태도로 현상을 바라보며 감정과 사유를 절제함으로 객관화 할 수 있는 기회가 되었다. 연구자 개인의 일상을 기반으로 한 작품들이지만 동시대를 살아가는 사람들의 일상의 관계에서도 중심을 찾는, 사유의 시발점이 되는 작품들이 되길 희망한다.
