「雲英傳」의 애정실현 방식 연구

Abstract

「운영전」은 인간사에서 지속적으로 문제시되고 있고, 문학 작품에서도 끊임없이 화두로 작용하고 있는 남녀간의 애정을 다룬 작품으로 중세적 질서에 의해 비극적으로 끝날 수 밖에 없는 운영과 김진사의 사랑을 다루고 있다. 「운영전」은 개별 작품으로서도 중요한 가치를 지니지만, 애정소설의 통시적 흐름 속에서도 중요한 위치를 차지하는 작품이다. 개별작품으로서의 가치 규명에는 의미있는 성과를 거두었지만, 애정소설로서 「운영전」이 지니는 문학사적 위치에 대한 논의는 아직 미흡한 상태이다. 따라서 본고는 「운영전」의 개별 연구 성과를 바탕으로 애정소설로서의 「운영전」이 우리 애정소설사에서 차지하는 위상을 정립하기 위해 시도되었다. 이를 위해 「운영전」을 중심으로 하여, 앞선 시기의 작품으로 초기 전기적 설화형태인 「수삽석남」과 소설의 형태를 구비한 「최치원」, 「만복사저포기」, 「이생규장전」을, 「운영전」과 비슷한 시기의 작품으로 「주생전」, 「최척전」을, 「운영전」이후의 작품인 「양산백전」, 「채봉감별곡」을 대상으로 구애방식과 결말처리를 살펴봄으로써 애정의 문제가 어떻게 수용되고 변용되는지를 살펴 보게 될 것이다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 「운영전」에 나타난 애정실현방식을 액자구조적 측면, 비극적 측면, 사회 · 역사적 측면에서 살펴 본다. 액자구조적 측면에서의 「운영전」은 「최치원」에 나타난 액자형식을 보다 완벽하고 구현하고 있으며, 「만복사저포기」와 「이생규장전」에 나타난 몽유형식을 수용, 이를 적절히 변용함으로써 몽유록계 작품보다 뛰어난 현실성을 획득하고 있으며, 적강구조 역시 완벽한 순환구조를 이루어 구조적인 완결성을 보여주고 있다. 비극적 측면에서는 전대의 애정소설에 나타난 비극성을 적극적으로 수용하면서 인간의 삶에 드러난 비극의 복합적인 면을 잘 보여주고 있다. 사회 · 역사적 측면에서의 「운영전」은 당대적 가치로 용인될 수 없었던 애정이라는 문제를 통해 인간 본연의 성정을 금압하는 중세적 질서에 대해 적극적으로 저항하고 있으며, 궁궐이라는 특수한 공간에서 안평대군이라는 역사적 실존인물을 등장시켜 궁녀로 대변되는 여성의 비극적 삶을 그려내고 있는데, 이는 당대 사회의 반영이라는 측면에서도 중요한 의의를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. 애정소설로서의 「운영전」은 전기적 설화에 드러난 애정담이 초기 애정소설의 형태를 거쳐 18세기 이후 본격적인 소설시대로 접어드는 전환점에 위치한 작품으로 애정담의 수용과 변용의 측면에서 아주 중요한 작품임을 알 수 있었다. 더불어 애정소설의 통시적 흐름 속에서 「운영전」은 전대의 애정소설의 구조적인 면과 주제적인 면을 수용하면서 전대의 소설에서는 볼 수 없었던 독자적인 영역을 확보함으로써 애정소설의 보다 발전된 양식을 보여주고 있다. 「운영전」의 이러한 소설적 성취는 18세기 본격적인 소설시대에 나타난 여러 애정소설에 수용되고 변용되어 애정소설의 소설적 성취를 높이는데 일정하게 기여하고 있다고 할 수 있다.|Love affair has always been the issue in the history of mankind and a popular topic in various literatures. 「Woonyeongjeon」 is a literary work, which involves a tragic predicted love affair, due to the wrongful medieval class distinctions, between Woonyeong and Kimjinsa. As a single piece of literature, 「Woonyeongjeon」 holds an important value however, its stand through out the history of love story can never be ignored. Furthermore, much significant efforts in examining 「Woonyeongjeon」's values were successfully achieved hence, locating its position in the literary history is still not yet up to the mark. In this study, based on the individual research efforts on 「Woonyeongjeon」, an attempt to correctly adjust 「Woonyeongjeon」's phase in the history of domestic love story was made. To do this, the courtship methods and finales of 「Susabseoknam」, 「Chaechiwon」, and some other novels were compared with those of 「Woonyeongjeon」 to inspect closely, how love affairs were issued and availed in different time base. And based on the above comparison, the love attaining method was considered in picture frame structure perspective, tragedy perspective and, social and historical perspective. More complete picture frame method was embodied in 「Woonyeongjeon」 than in 「Chaechiwon」 in the picture frame structure perspective and by accepting and appropriately reflecting the dream formation shown in 「Manboksajeopogi」 and 「Eesaenggyujangjeoni」, 「Woonyeongjeon」 achieves excellent reality compared to the works in the field of 「Mongyurok」. Descent structure also forms a perfect cycle structure, expanding structured completeness. In the perspective of the tragedy, 「Woonyeongjeon」 positively accepts the tragedy shown in romance novels of that age and well displays the complex sides of tragedy shown in human life. Through the problem of love, which were not to be approved as a value of that time, 「Woonyeongjeon」 actively resists medieval order, which forcefully prohibited one's nature, and in a special space of a palace, the novel introduces Ahnpyeongdaegun, who had actually existed historically, and draws tragic life of women represented as court ladies. It possesses an important meaning in a viewpoint that, it reflects the society of that time. 「Woonyeongjeon」 as a romance novel, is a piece of work published in a turning point after the 18th century, when the love stories entered the age of novels, from the formation of initial romance novels. And it is an important literary work in terms of acceptance and change of love stories. Furthermore, from the penetrative flow of romance novels, 「Woonyeongjeon」 accepts the structural and subjective areas of fantasy and secures the predominating area, which wash t easy to see from the novels of that time, to show a more advanced form of romance novel. Such fictitious achievement of 「Woonyeongjeon」 was accepted and changed in many romance novels introduced in the 18th century of active novel age and has been constantly contributed to raising fictitious achievement of romance novels.
