옷의 부분적 이미지를 통한 기억에 관한 연구 : 본인작품 MEMORY를 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 대학원 석사학위 청구 논문으로서 2002년부터 2004년 사이에 제작된 본인의 작품들 중 2003년 11월에 있었던 석사 학위 청구전 [memory]에 발표된 작업을 연구대상으로 하여 내용적(內容的) 조형적(造形的) 측면을 연구 분석한 것이다. 우리는 살아오면서 많은 이미지와 만나게 된다. 산과 들 바다와 호수 등 자연의 무수한 이미지들과 일상생활에서 수많은 이미지들을 접하게 되며, 개인의 경험과 의식, 환경적 요소로 인해 새롭고 다양한 것으로 형상화(形象化)된다. 이렇게 형상화된 이미지는 과거와 현재 경험에서 얻을 수 있는 심상(心象)의 기억과 추억이라는 서로 다른 감정이 더해져 이미지의 의미와 감흥은 한층 더 폭넓게 확대되는 것이다. 본인은 옷의 이미지를 과거 기억의 매개체로 보고, 작품 주제로 선택하였으며, 조형적 측면에서는 과거 연상 작용의 일환으로서 본인의 경험을 통해 인식되어진 옷이라는 소재를 선택하여 그것이 가지고 있는 의미와 흔적들을 작품 속에 사실적으로 표현 하고자 하였다. 그리하여 그것을 적절히 표현하고자 여러 가지 판화기법을 모색하였고 그중에서 본인이 의도하고자 한 가장 적절한 표현 방법을 찾아 작품의 기법으로 이용하고자 하였다. 이러한 본인의 작업 방식은 옷에서 떠오르는 것들을 기억하면서, 옷이 갖고 있는 특이한 재질감과 형태의 변형을 통해 판화만이 가질 수 있는 매체성과 재질감에 흥미를 갖고 작품을 제작 하였으며, 소재의 근거와 의미를 확고히 하고, 작품을 통하여 구체적인 예를 들어 설명하였다. 본인은 본 논문을 통해 일방적으로 작품이 보여지기 보다는 공감을 통해 나의 감성을 함께하고자 하며, 이제까지의 본인 작품을 돌아보는 계기로 삼아 작업 활동에 도움이 되고자 한다.|By expressing one's own spiritual world through experience on the outside, artists show their mental state. As it is, artists recollect the past through subconsciousness and the images of their memories that flash through their mind and they express it with formative factors. This study referred to Freud's writings on memories for theoretical background of recollection of memories experienced through images and the recollections of author's past experiences are expressed like a diary. The reason for selecting garments as medium of expressing that connects to memories and the characteristics of materials are then stated. by changing the material and arranging them formatively in the works, the time point of past is emphasized and suggested that author's experience is included therein. Also, using collage technique, direct and realistic expressions were attempted. From the formative aspect, by selecting only a specific parts of garments and creating them into various shapes, it was expressed in a way that it will unfold like a story. the contradicting colors and original matiere expressions suggest the time point of past and they are also intended to stimulate the curiosity of viewers to invoke wide association of ideas. Through this thesis, I came to have a chance to question self and by defining expression method of motives and development, and I believe that it will be a help in my creations in the future. lastly, there remains the future study assignment of developing various materials related to memories, a study on symbolic expression of natural clothes, and what one can do to perfect matiere, which can change its shape by heat.
