안익태의 지적능력 계발과정에 관한 연구

Abstract

이 연구에서는 지휘자겸 작곡가 안익태를 대상으로 그의 독특한 지적 능력이 전 생애에 걸쳐 어떻게 형성되고 계발되었는지 분석하여 인간의 지적 능력을 계발하는 교육적 원리를 찾고, 교육 현장에 생생한 사례를 제공하는 것이 목적이다. 연구 절차는 안익태의 다중지능 특성이 생애에 걸쳐 어떻게 발달되는가를 살펴보기 위해 그의 지적 강점을 형성하는데 영향을 미친 주요 사건을 추출하여 생애사를 재구성 하였다. 그리고 Gardner의 체계적 접근을 적용하여 능력의 계발 과정 안에 발견되는 3가지 요소인 개인, 영역, 분야 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 안익태는 다중지능 이론 중 음악·자기성찰·인간친화지능이 전 생애에 걸쳐 발달 하였다. 그 발달 과정을 특징에 따라 '음악·자기성찰지능 발현기', '음악지능 제한적 발달기 및 자기성찰·인간친화 지능 발달기', '음악·자기성찰 지능 발달기 및 인간친화지능 제한적 발달기', '음악·자기성찰·인간친화지능 통합 발휘기'로 구분하였다. 이 과정은 개인·영역·분야 간의 상호작용을 통해 발달하거나 제한되는 과정을 거쳤다. 그는 이러한 지적 능력 계발 과정을 통하여 한국에 대한 자신의 사랑을 표현했고 그 시대에 한국을 잘 알지 못했던 외국에서도 조국을 알리기에 노력한 흔적을 발견할 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 음악 교육을 위한 시사점을 제시하면 비범한 음악적 성취는 다양한 공부와 경험, 집념, 사회·문화적 환경, 영향력 있는 인물을 필요로 한다는 것이다. 이 연구는 특정 개인에 관한 연구로서 일반화된 법칙을 제공하기 위해서는 기존의 유사한 연구들과 관련성을 검토하거나 위대한 음악가에 대한 전기적 인물연구가 지속적으로 축적되어 공통된 결과에 대한 통찰이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 앞으로 위대한 음악가의 능력 계발 과정에 대한 심층적 연구가 지속된다면 잠재력을 최대한 계발하려는 음악 교육 현장에 훌륭한 예제들을 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 특히 국내 인물을 대상으로 한 연구는 한국의 교육 현장에서 좀 더 설득력 있게 정보를 제공할 수 있고, 학교 교육과 사회 문화적 환경의 특성이 지적 능력 형성과 계발을 자극하는 방향에 대한 탐색이 가능 할 것이다.|The purpose of this study is to analyze the unique intellectual development of conductor and composer Ahn In-tai over the course of his life, with the purpose of finding the key to developing intellectual ability and providing a case study that may be of use to educators. This study is conducted by reconstructing and examining the major events in Ahn’s life that contributed to the development of his strong intellect, with the goal of understanding how Ahn’s various intelligences developed over the course of his life. The theories of Howard Gardner will be applied to analyze the relationship among the three factors for intellectual development: self, context, and domain. Of Gardner’s intelligence types, Ahn continuously developed his musical, intrapersonal, and interpersonal intelligences over the course of his life. Based on the characteristics of these intelligence types, he divided them into different processes: “rise of musical/intrapersonal intelligence,” “limited development of musical intelligence and rise of intrapersonal/interpersonal intelligence,” “rise of musical/intrapersonal intelligence and limited development of interpersonal intelligence,” and “integrated development of musical, intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence.” The development or limitation of each of these processes occurred through the interaction of self, context and domain. Through this process of developing intelligence, one can discover evidence of Ahn’s ardent patriotism and the efforts he made to educate those in foreign countries about Korea. The implication of this study for music education is that extraordinary achievement in music requires a rich variety of educational experiences, dedication, and a strong awareness of social and cultural contexts. As this study is focused on a particular person, more work is necessary in order to formulate general principles based upon the results, such as investigating the similarities between this case and other research done on similar figures, or accumulating research on extraordinary musical figures across different time periods in order to deduce what meaningful commonalities exist among them. If rigorous research on the development of extraordinary musical talent can continue, it will be possible to devise exercises that allow for maximum development of innate ability. If such research is based on figures in Korea, it would provide more persuasive data for teachers, and the characteristics of school education and social/cultural education would drive further exploration into effective ways to form and develop intellectual ability.
