소외로서의 monologue의 의미가 반영된 현대인 이미지 연구

Abstract

인간성의 상실과 소외현상에 대한 회의는 오늘날 미술에서 중요하고 심각한 주제로 인식되고 있다. 현대사회에서 느끼는 단절감이나 고립감이 심화 될수록, 많은 예술가들은 소외와 단절이 야기하는 심리적 불안감과 고통을 작품으로 표현하고자 한다. 본인의 작업은 진실함과 인간성이 상실된 현대인에 대한 연민으로 시작되었다. 경쟁을 요구하는 현실은 상대방을 위기의식의 대상으로 바라보게 하며, 타인과 진실한 소통을 나누고자하는 인간의 본질을 방해한다. 본인의 관점에서 바라보는 현대인은 타인으로부터 소외되지 않기 위해 허울뿐인 대인관계를 형성하고 거짓과 위선의 언어로 자신을 포장하는 모습을 하고 있다. 그들은 대화를 나누는 상대방이 분명히 존재함에도 불구하고, 서로에 대한 무관심으로 ‘저마다의 혼잣말인 독백’ 혹은 ‘대화로서 위장된 독백’을 하고 있다. 본인은 오늘날의 사회에서 심리적 도피를 위한 도구가 될 수 있는 옷을 매개로 현대인의 이미지를 표현하였다. 즉, 본인이 작품에서 실제 표현하고자 하는 것은 현실세계의 구체적 대상으로써의 옷이 아니라, 현대사회로부터 소외되는 현상을 피하려는 인간의 위장된 표상으로서의 옷이며 인간의 외피로서의 그것이다. 본 논문을 통해 본인의 작품과 생각을 구체적으로 정립하고자 하였으며, 이를 통해 앞으로의 발전 가능성을 모색하고 향후 방향성에 대하여 생각해 보고자 한다. 본 논문은 2003년에서 2008년 사이에 ‘소외로서의 독백(獨白, monologue)의 의미가 반영된 현대인 이미지 연구'라는 주제로 제작된 본인의 작품을 연구한 것으로 총3장으로 구성되어진다. 제1장 서론에서는 예술과 인간의 관계성을 바탕으로, 본 논문의 연구목적과 연구방법에 대하여 서술하였다. 제2장 본론에서는 ‘monologue'라는 주제 아래 다양한 구성과 표현을 시도한 본인의 작품을 내용적 분석과 조형적 분석으로 나누어 본격적으로 고찰하였다. 1. 내용적 분석에는 작품 주제와 관련하여 소외에 대한 이론적 배경을 서술하였으며, 소통으로서의 미술에 대하여 언급하였다. 그리고 본인과 유사한 주제를 가지고 제작된 다른 작가들의 작품들을 예로 제시하였고, 본인의 작품과 비교하여 분석하였다. 또한 작품의 제작 동기와 주제를 구체적으로 설명하였으며, 소재로 선택된 옷과 옷걸이의 의미에 대해서도 언급하였다. 2. 조형적 분석에는 주제를 역설적으로 강조하고 연극적으로 화면을 연출하였음을 설명하였고, 공허함을 강조한 소재의 표현과 무거운 주제와 상반되는 밝은 색채와 리듬 있는 붓 자국에 관하여 서술하였다. 마지막으로 본인의 14점의 작품들을 개별적인 내용과 더불어 조형적 요소에 대하여 설명하였다. 제3장 결론에서는 본 논문의 내용을 개괄적으로 정리하며 본인 작업을 객관적으로 평가하고 앞으로의 작업방향에 대하여 모색하였다.|The skepticism about loss of humanity and phenomenon of alienation is recognized as one of the most important and serious issues in modern art. Feeling more deeply a sense of alienation and isolation in modern society, many artists are willing to express human's psychological insecurity and agony resulted from alienation and disconnection through their own works. My study is started by feeling pity for modern people who lose the truth and humanity. The competition in real life makes modern people regard others as the object of a sense of crisis and interrupts the nature of anyone willing to share real communication with others. In my opinion, modern people are struggling to have plausible interpersonal relationships and disguise themselves with false and double-faced words in order not to be alienated from others. Although they definitely have opportunities to talk with others, they perform 'a monologue pretended as soliloquy' or 'a monologue disguised as communication' with indifference for each other. I express modern people's images through clothes that can be an instrument for psychological escape in modern society. In other words, to truly express is not clothes as the concrete object in real world, but clothes as the disguised symbol of modern people who avoid being alienated in modern society and clothes itself as the outer cover. I have studied my own works since 2003 and intended to incorporate my works and thoughts in my study. Therefore, I am trying to find ways for possibilities and potentialities of growth in modern art. This paper consists of three parts and the subject is 'A study about modern people's images reflected the meaning of monologue as alienation'. In the first chapter as an introduction, I present the purpose and method of this study based on art-human relations. In the second chapter as the main subject, I study my works which have a try of various organization and expression in regard to the subject of 'monologue' and present in earnest by dividing them into the content analysis and the formative analysis. 1. In the content analysis, I present the theoretical background about alienation related to its subject and then state the art as communication. Examples are presented to compare my works with other works which have been made with similar subject. The motivation and subject of works are also presented in the concrete. The meaning of clothes and hangers which are chosen as a subject matter is also stated. 2. In the formative analysis, it is presented that the subject is paradoxically emphasized and a canvas is theatrically directed. It is also about bright colors and rhythmical traces of a brush which are contrasted with the heavy subject as well as the expression of the subject matter emphasizing a sense of emptiness. Finally, my fourteen works are described based on particular contents and formative factors. In the third chapter as a conclusion, I summarize this paper and estimate my works objectively. Finally, I intend to find ways for my works of future.
