<소나기>의 교육적 가치와 교수 방안 연구

Abstract

'정전'이라는 것은 교육의 측면에서 정전은 가르쳐야 할 텍스트의 공식적 실체라고 할 수 있을 것인데, 이러한 정전의 구성 과정에 문학교육은 결정적으로 작용한다. 국어 교과서에 수록된 작품이 바로 정전이 될 수 있는 것은 아니지만, 국민들의 문학 독서 방향을 이끌어서 취향을 갖게 하는 역할은 인정해야 할 것이다. 이러한 자연스러운 과정을 통해서 교과서의 문학 작품들은 정전으로 비롯되는데, 이 연구에서는 2차 교과서부터 7차 교과서까지 한 번도 빠지지 않고 수록되어 문학의 정전으로 거듭난 황순원의 <소나기>에 대한 연구를 하고자 한다. 국가의 의도가 교육과정에 반영되어 이 작품이 국어 교과서에 계속하여 수록되었다 할지라도 한 작품이 교과서에 이토록 오랜 기간 동안 실렸다는 것은 눈여겨볼 일일 것이며, 그 교육적․문학적 가치를 짐작해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 교육적‧문학적 가치를 지닌 <소나기>에 대하여 깊이 연구해 보는 것은 우리나라의 문학을 배우고, 또 연구하는 국민의 한 사람으로서 의의 있는 일이라 생각된다. 이 논문이 갖고 있는 문제의식은 세 가지이다. 첫째, 2차 교육과정부터 7차 교육과정 교과서에 수록된 점을 주목하여 각 시기별 교육과정 중 '국어과 교육과정'의 성격을 살펴보고, <소나기>에 관련된 학습활동이 교육과정의 성격에 부합하게 수록 되었는지를 분석하는 일이다. 국어 교과서에 오랜 기간 수록되는 동안 같은 소설에서도 중점을 두는 부분이 다를 것이라 생각되어 이를 분석하고자 한다. 둘째, 황순원의 <소나기>가 오랜 기간 교과서에 수록된 교육적 가치를 파악하는 과정의 일환으로 이 소설의 특징과 의미를 연구하고자 한다. 이 소설에 대한 성장소설적 면모‧미적 구성물로서의 면모를 연구한 기존의 연구를 참조하고 예문을 강화하여 분석한 연구이다. <소나기>가 내용적으로는 미성숙한 주인공의 자의식의 성장을 그리고 있다고 하여 성장소설로 분류되고, 표현적으로는 간결한 문체와 시적인 표현, 그리고 상징의 기법이 어우러져 미학적 서정소설로 분류되는 양상을 중심으로 하여 작품을 분석할 것이다. 셋째, 위의 두 연구와 함께 <소나기> 교육 방안을 고안한 연구들을 검토하여 실제로 <소나기>의 효과적인 교수 학습 방법을 고찰해 보고자 한다. 2-7차 국어 교과서의 <학습활동>을 대상으로 분석하였으므로 새로운 교수 방안의 계획도 학습활동 문항으로 제시하고자 한다. 오랜 기간 동안 교과서에 수록된 생명력을 분석하는 과정의 일환으로 이 연구를 계획하였다. 교과서에 주로 수록된 사항으로는 '인물' 요소임을 확인하였고, 교육적 가치로는 성장소설로서 학생들로 하여금 소설의 주인공과 함께 성장 가능한 점과 미적 구성물로서 독자들에게 심미성을 고양해 줌을 확인하였다. 이러한 사항을 토대로 새롭게 학습활동을 계획해 보는 것이 이 연구의 목표이다. 현재 이 소설의 문학적 위상과 교육적 가치를 고려할 때, 다른 연구주제의 예시 작품으로의 연구보다는 <소나기> 단독 작품으로서 연구할 가치가 있다고 생각되어 이 논문을 계획하였다. 한 작품에 대하여 2-7차 국어 교과서 수록양상을 살피고, 작품의 특징을 분석해 내며, 교육적 가치를 이끌어 내는 과정은 문학작품 연구의 다양성 측면에서 의의 있는 연구가 될 것이다. 이 연구가 앞으로도 교과서에 자주 수록되는 작품들에 대해 의미를 부여하고 심도 있는 분석과 교육적 가치를 이끌어 내는 연구들의 발판이 되기를 바란다.

| ‘Canonical’ Is the formal essence of the text that should be taught From an educational standpoint, and literature education crucially functions in the construction process of such canonical. Even though literary works in Korean language schoolbooks cannot directly become ‘canonical’, it should be acknowledged that such works encourage people to read and develop their tastes in literature. The literary works in textbooks happen to be ‘canonical’ through this natural process. This study researches on Soonwon Hwang’s <Sonagi> that thrived as ‘canonical’ and appears in every version of textbooks from the 2nd to the 7th curriculum. It is remarkable that a single piece of writing to be in the textbook for such a long period of time even if the novel is published in them out of the intention of the government influencing in the curriculum. And we can estimate its value in education and literature. In-depth research in <Sonagi> with such value is significant to an individual who studies and researches literature. This research raises three critical minds. Firstly, it examines the characteristics of a Korean's curriculum in each version of textbooks considering the novel appears in the 2nd to the 7th curriculum, and analyzes if the associated learning activities comply with curriculum. The investigation begins with the consideration in which the novel is included in the Korean language schoolbooks for long time and each may focus on different parts of the story. Secondly, it researches the characteristics and meanings of the novel as a part of understanding the educational value of Soonwon Hwang’s <Sonagi> published in textbooks for a long time. It is an analysis referring preceding researches in aspects of the story’s Bildungsroman quality‧aesthetic features and also emphasizing examples. <Sonagi> is categorized into Bildungsroman genre as it portrays development of self-consciousness of an immature hero, and it is also an aesthetic sentimental novel for its laconical style, poetic expression and symbolism. The research is conducted in this respect. Thirdly, this research indeed contemplates effective teaching scheme with reference to two prior researches and investigation on previously invented <Sonagi> teaching scheme. And the suggestion of new teaching scheme plan is described in the form of learning activity questionnaires as the subject of this analysis is those in 2nd-7th Korean textbooks. The research had been planned for a good while in process of analyzing vitality in textbooks. It also confirms that the textbooks mention an element, ‘character’ in the novel primarily and as a Bildungsroman, educational value in which students can grow as the character in the story does and aesthetic features enhance aesthetics of readers. In this respect, this research aims to design new learning activities. Planning of this research began with considering the literary grace and educational value this novel has, <Sonagi> is worth being studied alone rather than being a part of other research subject. Analyzing the characteristics and of this single novel, studying the tendency of mentioned items in 2nd-7th Korean textbooks and promoting educational value maybe asignificant research in the light of the diversity of studies in literary works. I hope this research could grant a significance in literary works often appear in textbooks and lays a cornerstone of the further studies that provide in-depth analyses and promote educational value.
