선인장 이미지를 통한 자아 표현 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 대학원 과정인 2005년부터 2007년에 제작된 일련의 작품들 중 석사학위 청구전에 출품한 작품들을 중심으로 작품의 내용과 표현 형식을 논리적으로 분석해 본 것이다. 자연은 인간의 삶의 터전이기에 예술에 직, 간접적으로 절대적인 영향을 미쳤다. 인간은 자연의 일부이면서 자연과는 분리되어 살 수 없는 존재이기 때문에 언제나 자연을 대상으로 반응하면서 자기 존재를 인식하며 살아간다. 본인도 자연으로부터 거대한 우주의 원리를 깨닫고 삶의 준칙과 생명감에 대한 감동을 느끼고 이것들은 나아가 본인 작품의 기본적 배경이 되었다. 현대인들은 물질적 성취를 위한 욕망과 그로 인한 과도한 경쟁 속에 살면서 정서적 결핍과 인간 소외 현상을 경험한다. 본인은 식물 중에서 특히 선인장이 지닌 형태의 특징과 의미에 관한 상징적 표현을 통하여 현대사회 속에서 겪게 되는 인간 소외와 갈등, 나아가 나 자신의 자의식을 표현하고자 하였다. 오늘날 과학문명에 의한 급속한 Technolgy의 발달을 통해 미술은 첨단 매체를 흡수하면서 표현 방식을 확장하였다. 판화의 영역 또한 컴퓨터와 같은 첨단 매체와의 결합 방식을 통해 그 표현 방식을 다양화하면서 확대해 나가고 있다. 따라서 본인은 작품 표현 방법에 있어 디지털 표현 방식에 의한 현대적인 매체를 적극적으로 활용함과 동시에 전통적 판화 방식을 결합함으로서 새로운 표현 가능성을 탐구하고자 하였다. 석판화와 디지털 프린트 방식의 매체 간 결합을 시도할 때 진행과정에서 두 가지 매체가 지닌 조형적 특성과 디지털 표현 방식을 본인 작품에 적극적으로 수용함으로서 각각의 방식에서 발견할 수 없는 새로운 조형적 효과를 추구하였다. 선인장은 척박한 자연환경에서 생존을 위한 치열한 식물학적 특성을 지니고 있다는 의미와 외형적 특성으로 인하여 대도시 환경 속에서 겪은 본인의 내적 심리 상태를 표현하는데 매우 적합한 소재로서의 상징성을 갖고 있다고 보며 이러한 표현을 위하여 작품은 전체적으로 흑백의 모노톤과 변형된 공간과 선인장과의 낯선 결합을 통하여 현실 세계에서 느끼는 혼돈과 절망, 존재 가치에 관한 의미를 동시에 표현해 보고자 하였다.|This thesis is what tried to analyze work contents and expression form logically centering around the works exhibited before applying for master's degree out of a series of works manufactured from 2005 to 2007 when I was in the course of graduate school. As nature is the base of life of human being, it had absolute influence on art directly and indirectly. As human being is a part of nature and he(or she) is an existence who cannot live by being separated from nature, he(or she) live, reacting on nature and recognizing self-existence every time. I understand gigantic universe principle from nature and feel life standard and the impression for feeling of vitality. And, these became the basic background of my work. Moderns experience emotional deficiency and human alienation phenomenon, while they have desire for material achievement and live in excessive competition to be caused by it. I tried to express human alienation and trouble to get to experience in modern society and self-consciousness of myself through symbolical expression for form feature and meaning that cactus has out of plants. Today, fine art expanded expression method, absorbing ultramodern media, through rapid technology development by science civilization. Domain of woodcut is being expanded, diversifying the expression method through the method of combination with ultramodern media like computer. Thus, I tried to explore new expression possibility by utilizing modern media by digital expression method positively in the expression method of work and combining traditional woodcut method at the same time. I sought new plastic effect which cannot be discovered in each method by accepting plastic feature that two media have and digital expression method in my work positively in the course of progression in trying combination between media of lithograph and digital print method. I think that cactus has symbolical nature as material to be very suitable for expressing my inner mental state that I experienced in the environment of big city by meaning that it has intense botanical feature for existence in barren natural environment and external form. And, for this expression, I tried to express chaos and despair that I feel in actual world and meaning for existence value at the same time through strange combination with whole monotone of black and white, transformed space, and cactus.
