西厓 柳成龍의 詩文學 연구

Abstract

본 論文은 西厓 柳成龍(1542~1607)의 詩文學에 관한 연구로써 지금까지 집중 조명되었던 정치·사회적 연구에서 벗어나 사림파의 성리학적 사상과 더불어 문예의식을 지녔던 문인으로서의 서애를 조명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해서 먼저 기존 연구에 대한 現況을 밝히고 時代的 背景과 生涯, 文學觀, 詩世界, 文學史的 意義의 순서로 연구하였다. 時代的 背景과 生涯에서는 서애가 활동했던 시대적 상황과 전반적인 삶 그리고 交遊 상황을 고찰했다. 16C는 당쟁과 임진왜란 등의 사회적 혼란으로 새로운 가치를 추구하고자 했던 과도기였지만 문학적으로는 문이재도적 문학관이 완성된 시기이며, 후기에 이르??서는 作詩에 있어서 主情的이고 흥취를 중시한 唐詩로 그 경향이 변화된 시기였다. 서애는 그러한 시대적 배경에서 퇴계의 門下로서 성리학사상을 지니고 김성일, 정경세 등과 교유했고, 唐詩的의 문학 성향을 지니고 허봉, 허균 등과 교유했음을 알 수 있었다. 文學觀에서는 16C 문이재도적 문학론 아래 부화한 형식으로 글을 치장할 것이 아니라 자연의 性情을 발견하고 그 정신을 글로 담아 사회를 교화 해야한다는 시교적 관점과 시에는 형식보다는 시인의 내면적 정신이 자연스럽게 녹아들어야 하며 직관적 흥취와 沖澹등의 가치가 중요하다는 심미적 관점이 서애의 주된 문학관이었음을 알 수 있었다. 詩世界에서는 우선 대략적으로 형식적인 면에서 시를 분석하여 개관하고, 다음으로 내용적인 면에서 구체적으로 시를 분류하여 1) 사림파 문인의 문이재도적 의식이 담긴 吟詠性情의 面貌, 2) 자신의 위치에서 그 역할을 다하지 못한다는 괴로움을 읊은 人間的 苦惱의 表出, 3) 자연을 바라보고 그 속에서 느껴지는 감흥을 은근하게 표현한 自然 觀照的 興趣, 4) 속세로부터 벗어나 隱逸하고 싶은 감정을 노래한 隱人 脫俗으로의 希求 등으로 나누었다. 이를 통해서 서애의 사상과 문학관이 어떻게 시로 형상화되었는가를 살펴보았다. 文學觀과 詩世界를 통해서 본 서애는 16C 성리학을 바탕으로 문이재도적 의식을 지니고 있었을 뿐 아니라 심미적인 문예의식도 지녔던 인물로, 唐詩風이 일어나기 시작하던 16C 후반에는 직관적, 감각적인 흥취를 詩文으로 표출하여 詩評이나 詩語선별에 있어서도 상당한 문예의식을 지닌 인물이었음을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로 서애는 16C 文以載道的 문학관을 정립하여 문장으로 담아냈고, 唐詩的 문예의식이 진작되던 시기에 심미적 시의식을 통해 詩文을 짓고 批評하기도 하였던 인물이었다. 그러므로 본 論文은 西厓 詩文의 문예적 면모를 고찰함으로써 문인으로서의 西厓 柳成龍을 재조명한 것에 그 의의가 있다고 하겠다.|This study discussed the poetry of Seoai, Ryu Sung Ryong and tried to find the meaning of his poetry in the history of the 16th century literature. Seoai had a wild field in the 16th century which was a transitional period to pursuit new ideal value as a confusion period because of party strife and Yimjinwaeran(壬辰倭亂). Judging from ideal point of view, Munijaedo(文以載道) completed his literary attitudes at this time and the trend of the Tang poem(唐詩) started to be changed. Seoai as a disciple of Lee Hwang advanced Confucianism associating with Kim Sung­il and Jung Kyung­se. He also associated with Huh Bong and Huh Gyoun keeping Tang poem. His literature didn't decorate the composition with splendid style but involved the law of nature and his sprit which should enlighten the society. In other words, he insisted the importance of poet's idea rather than the style. This research studied how Seoai's poetry encapsulates the idea of his literature classifying the poems according to the contents - 1) the aspect of Eumyoungsungjung(吟詠性情) involving Muijaedo(文以載道) style consciousness 2) expression of human anguish to be worried about his role in his situation 3) the interest toward nature which gives an inspiration 4) the emotion of the renouncing the world. Thus, through considering Seoai's poetry and his literature, it is found that Seoai was the person who had a anaesthetic sense of literature as well as a sense of confucianism in the 16th century. Also late in the 16th century when arising the trend of Tang poem, he had already expressed intuitive and sensible interest with a considerable literary consciousness in sorting poetic words and comments. In conclusion, Seoai, Ryu, Sung Ryong expressed his idea in the poetry involving moral value to educate people. Also he showed his poem with the morality, nature, and aesthetic sense including his critics toward society. It has a great literary meaning to consider Seoai, Ryu, Sung Ryong not as a politician but as a literary man studying his literary sense.
