서당교육에서의 열린교육적 요소 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 열린교육의 개념을 명확히 이해하고 우리나라 전통 교육 특히 서당교육에 내재한 열린교육적 요소를 밝혀 한국적 열린교육의 보급과 토착화에 도움을 주려는데 목적이 있다. 열린교육은 「개별화된 학습자 중심교육」으로 개별화, 자율화, 적극적 교수-학습, 다양화, 융통성 등을 모두 포함하는 개념이다. 이 다섯 가지는 열린교육이 갖추어야할 최소 조건으로 어느 하나라도 만족시키지 못하면 열?갚냅걋繭箚? 할 수 없다. 따라서 서당교육의 열린교육적 요소를 분석하기 위해 열린교육의 다섯 가지 최소 조건을 기준으로 삼았다. 서당교육의 열린교육적 요소를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서당교육은 학생의 개인차와 학습능력을 고려한 개별학습이다. 둘째, 서당의 가장 기본적인 교육방법인 강독은 반복을 통해 스스로 문장의 의미를 깨우치게 하는 자율성을 존중한 교육이다. 셋째, 서당의 수업단위는 하루이기 때문에 정규수업시간은 물론 휴식시간에도 생활 예절을 익히는 등 적극적인 교수-학습이 이루어졌다. 넷째, 서당에서는 글 대구 맞추기, 자맞추기, 화승작, 괘짓기, 엽운 둥의 놀이를 학습에 이용하여 다양한 수업을 진행하였다. 다섯째, 서당교육은 학과와 계절을 조화시켜 융통성 있는 교육과정을 운영하였다. 이처럼 서당교육은 비록 몇 백년 전의 교육형태였다 할지라도 열린교육적 요소를 고루 갖추고 있었으며, 더 나아가 열린교육의 한 모델로 평가될 수 있을 것이다. 우리나라에 진정한 한국적 열린교육을 토착화시키기 위해서는 외국의 이론을 그대로 모방하기보다는 우리의 전통 교육 속에 내재한 열린교육의 요소를 밝혀내어 우리의 문화와 정서에 맞는 교?건凰쨌? 발전시키려는 노력이 필요할 것이다.|My goal in writing this study is to help you understand the concept of open education, and assess open educational elements in traditional Korean education particularly serdang education. The term open education in its most general sense refers to learner-centered individualized education. The term involves five conditions - individualization, autonomy, active instruction-learning, variety, flexibility - at least. If you eliminate any one of these conditions, it is not called open education. So I have these five conditions standardized for analyzing open educational elements in serdang education. The following are the results of analyzing open educational elements in serdang education. · individualization : Serdang education is individualized learning that reflects difference and capacity of learner. · autonomy : The learning methods of self-learning, self-practicing and self-understanding. · active instruction-learning : In general, teacher and students live together all day. Students learn not only subject but also custom. · variety : Serdang offers plays for greater variety in lesson. For example seeking the letters, making poems during the string burning, words play, composing of divination words, making sentence one by one, etc. · flexibility : Maching season to subject. Through out this study, we can find some open educational elements in serdang education. To develop a Korean-styled system of open education that is distinctive from foreign styles, Korean educator need to pay more attention to overcoming the issues and problems of open education inherent to Korea.
