삶과 죽음의 의미로서의 꽃 표현 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 1999년부터 2001년까지 대학원 과정 동안에 제작된 본인 작품을 대상으로 하여 크게 내용적 측면과 조형적 측면으로 나뉘어서 연구 분석한 것이다. 본인은 작품에 꽃을 주요소재로 삼고 있다. 꽃을 통해서 인간 생의 여정상에서 엄연히 삶의 또 다른 모습으로 존재하는 죽음을 표현하고자 하였다. 즉 자연의 현상에서 일어나고 있는 생명성과 소멸성에 대한 의미를 인간의 삶과 죽음이라는 문제와 결부시켜 표현하였다. 이는 바꾸어 말하면 죽음은 절망의 부정적 의미가 아니라 삶의 형태중의 하나로서 존재한다는 것을 보여주고자 한 것이다. 본인의 작품에서 추구하고자 하는 삶과 죽음에 대한 자신의 주관적 견해를 고대사상 꽃의 순환과정, 그리고 불교적 상징성과 영혼불멸사상에 비추어 체계적으로 설명하였으며 본인의 표현개념인 삶과 죽음의 하나의 범주로 보는 개념을 서술하고 꽃에 대한 일반적인 상징성을 개괄적으로 알아보았다. 조형적으로는 꽃이라는 생명체를 통하여 삶과 죽음이라는 대조적인 개념을 하나의 모습으로 표현하기 위해 대형화면에 꽃을 확대하여 그 꽃만을 부각시키는 방법과 주요 이미지와 배경의 극적대비, 그리고 그로테스크한 색채를 사용하여 표현하였다. 표현기법으로는 판화기법에 유동적인 액체를 떨어뜨리거나 흘려주는 직접적인 기법도 수용하여 생명성과 소멸성의 개념을 보다 효과적으로 반영하고자 하였다.|The purpose of this study was to analyze the main contents and the expression methods of my works during graduate period from 1999 to 2001 as to analyze the aspects of contents side and plastic side. Although Art today is not simply to reappear a false world, but the focus will be put on the subject to research in domains what is impossible to see. From my works, according to the spiritual world of the artist is as if it were impossible to see directly, but inwardly to explain the essentially world of the meaning to, have authoritative immanent on the expression of flower. In the research of appearance about the flower, ego contains a subjective opinion and an oriental ideology, systematically from symbolic of the birth-mythology as a theoretical study, to present the meaning of the life of nature and the disappearance to link it with the matter of human life and death. Furthermore, death isn't a figure of despair, but to show up that life is a figure to be an existence. In a plastic method, flower shows an image of the contrast with life and death and also the contrast with the background and the appearance to enlarge this shape dramatically to the full-sized on canvas. Technically, researcher tried to represent the picturesque elements to introduce in printmaking techniques methods and concentrated to add the motif in an effective way. I refer myself to works on artists with the similar themes in Art history basis and also with its different aspects. This thesis finally comes to a conclusion by showing the possibility of a review in my works and further make a direction for new art activity.
