뿌리형태에 의한 생명의지 표현 연구 : 염색 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

현실을 보다 나은 조건으로 개선하려는 인간의 진보의지는 생명의지로서 곧 자연만물의 본성이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 사람들의 욕망과 편안함을 위한 변화가 부정적인 방향으로 영향을 끼칠 때에 자연의 변화는 사람들의 노력과 의지를 무색하게 만들고 있다. 이때에 삶의 터전인 자연과 생명체와의 상대성을 인정하는 수평주의적인 생명관이 자연을 이해하려는 개념으로 도입되고 있다. 생명은 하나라는 절대적인 가치 뿐 아니라 순환하는 생명활동 속에서 서로에게 밀접한 영향을 미치기 때문에 소중한 것이다. 이러한 생명의 그물 속에서 그 어떤 생명체라?? 제자리를 소중히 지키며 맡은 바 임무를 다하고 스스로의 삶을 조절해 나가는 것이 삶의 진리이다. 삶의 아름다움과 풍성함을 유지시켜 주는 것은 보이지 않는 뿌리의 역할에 있으며 그것은 식물과 동물, 인간 모두에게 다름 아니다. 우리들이 세상의 변화 속에서도 자신을 유지할 수 있고 새로운 영양분을 섭취하면서 보다 나은 변화를 기약할 수 있는 것은 뿌리가 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 뿌리의 의미와 생명의 올바른 이해를 배경으로 하여 작품의 제작을 통해서 서로의 삶을 공유하고 포용하는 관계의 중요성을 자연스럽게 표현하면서 생명의 아름다움과 끝없는 자연의 창조성을 가시화하고 설명하는 과정을 염색작품으로 조형화 하였다. 뿌리에 대한 직접적인 인상을 자연스러운 곡선의 볼륨감으로 표현하였으며 자연스럽게 나타났다 사라지는 듯한 부유하는 정신의 실체를 형태감 속에 끌어들이려 하였다. 작품 속에 형성된 선은 뿌리를 표현하는 가장 결정적인 구성요소로서 추상적인 표현으로 시도하였다.|Human being's strong will for progress, to improve the condition of the reality, is the original nature of all things like the will of life. However, when the changes for the sake of fulfilling our desire and convenience bring negative influence to the nature, the resulting changes often disgrace our will and effort. Thus, an equalitarian view on life, which recognizes the relativity of lives and nature as their ground for life, is introduced in approaching nature. Life is precious not only because it is one absolute value, but also because it closely influences each other in circulating life activities. The truth in life for all living creature is to do his/her best, cherishing one's original place in this net of life. Maintaining the beauty and richness of life is the role of invisible root, and it is the same for plant, animal and human. By the grace of root, we can upkeep ourselves in the midst of turbulent changes of the world, promising a better future by absorbing new nutrition from it. Through the process of art making, based on the meaning of root and proper understanding to life, I tried to visualize the beauty of life and endless creativeness of nature, while gently expressing the importance of the relationship in which we all share each other's life and embrace it. I employed naturally curved lines with volume to express direct impression of root. I also intended to bring the form of the substantial body of floating spirit which softly emerges and disappears in the space. The lines in my works are the most crucial elements to represent roots and are employed in abstract expression.
