비계(飛階)를 통해 본 풍경에 대한 연구

Abstract

삶은 개인마다 다르고, 삶의 풍경 또한 개인마다 다르다. 서로 다른 공간 속 삶의 풍경은 각자의 감성과 경험에 따라 다양하다. 의지와 관심의 깊이에 따라 달라 보이는 풍경은 그래서 더 흥미롭기도 하다. 연구자는 삶의 풍경을 <비계(飛階)를 통해 본 풍경에 대한 연구>라는 주제로 본 논문에서 논해 보고자 한다. 작품의 소재인 비계 (飛階, 건축공사 때 쓰이는 가 설치물)는 2011년 학교 창밖의 풍경인 공사현장을 우연히 보고, 건축의 뼈대와 노동의 불안함이 동시에 느껴졌던 현장에서 우리 주변의 흔한 풍경이 건강하고, 안전한 삶의 중심이 되길 바라는 마음에 시작하게 되었다. 그 후 꾸준한 관심이었던 비계(飛階, scaffolding) 작업은 최근 황칠나무 (Dendropanax morbifera)와 비파나무(Loquat)등 다양한 식물과 함께 작품으로 표현한다.

본 논문은 2010년 학부과정 중 시작된 드로잉 작업을 바탕으로 2011년 비계(飛階, scaffolding) 작업이 어떻게 황칠나무, 자연, 풍경 작업과 연결되는지 살펴보고, 대학원 수료 후 2018년 <황칠, 풍경을 통한 비계(飛階)>라는 주제로 전시한 석사청구전 작품까지 자연과 사회 풍경을 어떻게 조형적으로 표현하는지 서술하고자 한다. 본 논문의 구성은 서론에서 비계와 황칠에 대한 연구배경과 목적에 대해 살펴보고, 본론의 첫 번째에서 삶속의 풍경이 어떻게 작품으로 연결되어 회화적 조형으로 표현하는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 두 번째에서는 작품의 내용연구와 조형연구에서 직선적인 구조물인 비계(飛階)를 2012년부터 나뭇가지 형식으로 재해석한 풍경이 작품으로 어떻게 표현되었는지 살펴보고, 2013년부터 2016년까지는 황칠나무라는 식물을 풍경과 함께한 조형적 연구를 살펴보고자 한다. 세 번째로는 작품 설명을 통해 2011년부터 2018년까지 작품을 살펴보고, 2017년부터 장지에 황칠 잎과 줄기를 우려 천연염색 작업을 진행한 것과 2018년부터 에틸알코올로 황칠 원액을 녹여 장지에 작업을 하면서 생긴 재료 변화와 함께 물성에 대해 좀 더 생각하게 되면서 변화된 작품을 통해 비계와 황칠나무 등 삶 속의 풍경이 작품의 회화적, 조형적 변화까지 어떤 영향을 줬는지 본 논문을 통해 간단히 서술하고자 한다.

본 연구 논문은 우리 주변의 흔한 풍경이 좀 더 안전하고 건강한 공간으로 균형 잡힌 삶을 살길 바라는 관심에서 시작되었다. 텅 비어있는 한지에 어떤 그림을 그릴지 집중하게 되는 마음처럼, 무엇을 짓는다는 시작이 안전한 환경의 시·공간이 되길 바라며 비계(飛階, scaffolding)라는 구조물을 풍경과 함께 작품으로 연구한 것이다. 일상생활에서 우리는 다양한 선택을 하고 있다. 그 선택은 결과로 이어진다. 소소한 선택들이 쌓여 건강한 삶의 집이 되길 바라는 마음으로 작업을 진행하였고, 그 과정의 결과를 작품을 통해 본 논문에서 살펴보고자 한다. | Life differs from person to person, and the landscape of life also varies among individuals. The landscape of life in different spaces varies depending on one's emotions and experiences. The landscape is perceived differently depending on the depth of volition and interest, making it even more amusing. In this paper, the researcher aims to discuss the landscape of life under the theme of "Study on Landscape Through Scaffold(飛階)". It was in the year 2011 when the researcher was first inspired by the scaffold (飛階, installation used for construction work), the subject for this work, while the researcher happened to witness the construction site through the school window, a landscape where the construction frame and insecureness of labor were both felt at the same time, with the hope that this common landscape would become the center of healthy and safe lives. The scaffolding (飛階) work, which had been of steady interest since then, has been expressed in recent works along with various plants such as Dendropanax morbifera and Loquat. This paper investigates how the scaffolding work in 2011 is linked to the works of Dendropanax morbifera, nature and landscape based on the drawing work that began during the undergraduate program in 2010, and describes how natural and social landscapes are expressed formatively through the masters exhibition work exhibited under the theme "Dendropanax morbifera, Scaffolding through Landscape" in 2018. The introduction section of this paper examines the research background and purpose of scaffolding and Dendropanax morbifera, and the first section of the main subject investigates how landscapes of life are connected to be expressed as a pictorial work. The second section on the context study and the composition study of the works examines how the landscape in which the straight-line structure, scaffold (飛階), has been reinterpreted into branch form since 2012, is expressed as a work; and from 2013 to 2016, it investigates the formative study that incorporated the plant called Dendropanax morbifera to the landscape. Thirdly, the paper examines the works from 2011 to 2018 through work explanation and aims to briefly describe the impact of landscapes of life such as scaffolding and Dendropanax morbifera on paintings and sculptures through the material changes brought about by the works of applying the melting of Dendropanax morbifera by ethyl alcohol to the paper screen and the works of applying natural dyeing of Dendropanax morbifera leaves and stems to the paper screen, along with deeper insights into the property of matter. This research paper originated from the concern of desiring the common landscapes around us to provide a more balanced life with safer and healthier spaces. Just like the focused mind pondering what to draw on a blank hanji paper, the researcher aimed to integrate the structure of scaffolding (飛階) and landscape into works with the hope that every construction would begin within a safe space-time environment. We continue to make various choices in our daily lives. And those choices lead to results. Hence, the researcher proceeded work with the hope that these small choices would pile up to become a home of healthy lives, and this paper aims to examine the results of such processes through works.
