브레인라이팅(Brainwriting)을 이용한 합리적 의사결정모형 개발

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 사회과 교육의 기본적 목표인 민주 시민의 자질로서의 합리적 의사결정능력의 신장을 위하여, '브레인라이팅'기법을 이용한 교수-학습 모형을 개발하는 것이다. 급변하는 현대 사회의 다양하고 복잡한 문제 상황들에 직면하여, 최근 사회과 교육에서는 이러한 문제 해결을 위한 합리적 의사결정력의 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구에 있어서 합리적 의사결정력이란, 사회 공동체의 구성원으로서 민주적 과정에 참여하여, 사회 전체에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 사회적 문제에 대한 합리적이고 민주적인 의사 결정을 내릴 수 있는 능력이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 합리적 의사결정력의 함양을 위해서, 소집단 활동을 통해 문제 해결을 위한 방법이나 대안을 창출하여 집단의 의견을 수렴 · 발표하는 '브레인라이팅' 기법을 활용한 합리적 의사결정 모형을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, Ⅰ장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 내용, 연구의 방법 및 한계를 밝혔다. Ⅱ장에서는 이론적 논의를 통해 사회과 교육의 목표로서의 합리적 의사결정력의 중요성을 강조하고, 기존에 연구되었던 의사결정 모형들의 특징과 한계를 고찰함으로써, 새로운 대안으로서의 본 연구의 필요성을 제기하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 본 연구의 근간이 되는 '브레인라이팅'의 개념과 기본 절차를 살펴보고, 이를 기초로 합리적인 의사결정 과정을 기본 모형과 확장 모형으로 단계화하여, 구체적인 사례를 적용하여 기술하였다. 그리고 이러한 과정을 통해 기대할 수 있는 교육적 효과에 관하여 논의하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 브레인라이팅을 활용한 합리적 의사결정 모형을 고등학교 사회과 교과서의 내용에 적용하여 구체적인 예를 제시한다. 그리고 이러한 과정을 통해서 기대할 수 있는 교육적 효과에 관하여 논의하고자 한다. Ⅴ장에서는 이 연구의 주요 내용을 요약하고, 앞으로의 연구 과제에 대하여 제언하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 단계화된 합리적 의사결정 과정의 기본 모형과 확장 모형을 사회과 수업에 적용함으로써, ??제의 인식과 해결 과정에서 비판적 사고력 · 창조적 사고력 · 의사결정력 등의 고급 차원의 사고력을 향상시키고, 대안의 분류와 평가 과정에서 민주적인 의사소통능력을 신장시킬 수 있다. 그리고 '브레인라이팅'을 활용한 의사결정의 전 과정에 참여하는 경험을 통해서 사회적 실천으로서의 참여적 행동을 기대할 수 있는 효과적인 수업 모형이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 본 연구는 실제 교육 현장에 적용했을 때 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 예측하지 못하고, 그 효과 또한 검증하지 못한 한계를 지니고 있다. 하지만 이것은 앞으로의 연구과제로 남겨 두고, 여기에서는 합리적 의사결정을 위한 이론적 모형의 개발에 그 의의를 두고자 한다.|The main purpose of this study is to develop a teaching-learning model based on a "Brainwriting" method, in order to enhance students' abilities of rational decision-making, which is a core element of democratic citizenship as well as a main goal of social studies education. With various, complicated societal problems of rapidly changing contemporary societies, there has been a growing emphasis on the individual's ability of rational decision-making to solve these problems in the area of social studies education. In this study, the ability of rational decision-making indicates an ability to participate in the democratic processes as a member of a given society and to make rational, democratic decisions for various social problems. To improve students' abilities of rational decision-making in our schools, this study intends to develop an instructional model of rational decision-making relying on a Brainwriting technique, which involves mixed processes of problem-solving and small-group activities to shape solutions and alternatives toward given social problems. The organization of the present thesis is as follows: Chapter Ⅰ illustrates the purposes, methodology, and limitations of the study. Chapter Ⅱ, based on the review of the literature on the models of rational decision-making in the area of social studies education, illuminates the features and limitations of rational decision-making models, suggesting some rationales for the need of an alternative model. Chapter Ⅲ, Ⅳ describes core concepts and basic stages of a Brainwriting method. Especially two models of rational decision-making based on the Brainwriting method are suggested: the basic model and the extended model. Each model is discussed with concrete examples, followed by anticipated pedagogical consequences for social studies education. Chapter Ⅴ summarizes major arguments of this study, and discusses their implications for further research. The alternative instructional model of rational decision-making presented in this study will help students improve their higher-level thinking and communication skills within social studies classrooms. Additionally, the present model based on the Brainwriting method will help social studies teachers create educational experiences, through which students can engage in participatory actions in the processes of decision-making for given social problems.
