- This paper is a research and analysis on by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), a Neoclassical composer of the 19th century, who expressed musical characteristics of Romanticism within the Classical structure.
The French Revolution in late 18th century influenced social changes of 19th century, creating mass society and mass production due to machines, allowing the improvement and development of instruments. In addition, songs of various genres were written enabling the general public the opportunity to access music. The third movement is a rondo form in which the repeated part A is not played in the original tonality in A’ but played in a subdominant key with quotations of songs, 2:3 complex rhythms, arpeggio and etc. Like this, is the piece which Brahms’s compositional techniques such as the development of motive and song quotations are cleary presented in both the violin and piano.
