변형을 통한 생명 이미지 표현

Abstract

예술에 있어서 다양한 테크놀러지는 미술과 밀접한 관계를 맺으면서 작품을 제작하는 데에 적극적으로 활용되고 있다. 디지털 환경에서 이미지를 유추하고 변형시키는 과정을 통해 기존의 순수 예술이 지향하던 작품에서 예술의 개념을 변화시켰다. 컴퓨터는 이미지를 포착하고 변형 조작이 가능하며, 일상을 통해 스쳐 지나가거나 관심의 대상이 되는 이미지들에 본인의 심리적 시각을 투사하고 컴퓨터로 왜곡시키는 과정을 거치게 되는 것에 비해 형태의 왜곡을 통해 창조된 이미지는 전통적 회화의 재현 방법을 이용한다. 본인의 작업은 사진과 컴퓨터 그래픽, 회화적 표현방법을 조합하여 이미지를 새롭게 재현하는 방법으로, 컴퓨터 그래픽을 통해 이미지를 변형하고 색채의 적용과 같은 주관적 감성에 의해 재구성하여 정적인 사물을 유기적인 형태로 담아봄으로써 사물의 본질을 찾고자 한다. 또한 이미지 변형 과정을 통해 화면 안에 유동적인 빛을 만들어 가며, 사물 속에서 발생하는 본질적이고 구체적인 생명활동을 탐구함으로써 얻어진 생명의 이미지를 반영한다. 그리고 빛에 의한 이미지를 유기적 형태로 조형화시킴으로써 생명의 이미지를 형상화하고 생명력을 표현하는 데 있다. 본인에게 빛이란 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것, 비추는 것과 비추어진 것 사이의 경계를 허물고 유기적인 형태로 생명적 에너지로서의 빛이다. 유동적인 빛은 그 방향과 세기에 따라 그 형태가 달라지고 거리에 따라 다르게 나타나는 등 표현의 영역은 무한하다. 빛은 흐름이 희미하면서도 강하게 퍼져나가고 공허한 듯 하지만 그 안에는 에너지가 넘친다. 바라보는 형체마다 빛이 있고 굴절을 하고 그것이 나에게 감지된다. 생명체가 지니고 있는 에너지가 아니라 내가 생명체이기 때문에 사물에 에너지가 있음을 바라본다 할 수 있다. 사물 또한 생명과 연결해서 다시금 생각함으로써 작업을 바라보는 시야가 확장되었다. 우리 주위에서 볼 수 있는 일상적인 형상들로 작업을 하고 대상물을 바라보는 작가 본인인 ‘나’를 주체성으로 한다. 이는 빛이 사물에 내재되어 있는 것을 바라보는 것이 아니라 내 안에 바라보는 시선이 생명의 빛으로 사물을 봄으로써 생동감을 불어 넣는 것이다. 그리고 카메라를 통해 채택된 사진이미지들은 컴퓨터 작업을 통해 이미지의 재구성이 시작되었으며 사물이나 고전의 명화를 가시적인 재현이 아니라 전달하고자 하는 의미를 극대화시키고자 표현형식의 변형을 시도하였다. 대상을 변형함으로써 나타나는 미적 효과와 창의적 표현을 통해 새로운 경험과 흥미를 유발시키는 계기를 마련하고 화면 구성에 있어서 정적 이미지를 동적이미지로 전환하는 효과를 나타내고자 하였다. 변형과 왜곡에 의한 형상을 회화에 생명감을 불어 넣고자, 디지털 환경에서 포토샵과 같은 프로그램을 이용하여 이미지가 남기는 흔적을 재창조하는 작업을 하고, 형태가 변형되어 보이는 시각적 효과는 빛의 굴절현상이 확대된 공간과 생명의 빛이 창조되는 공간을 형성시킨다. 또한, 고흐이미지를 차용하여 또 다른 시선으로 주관적인 가치를 부여하고 실재가 가질 수 없는 형태와 색채로 재해석하여 힘 있고 역동적인 모습으로 재현함으로써 화면의 고정된 이미지를 변화시키고자 하였다. 본인의 상상력과 개입은 이미지를 변조함으로써 화면에 생기를 부여하고 빛에 의한 생명의 이미지를 유기적인 형태를 조형화시키고 색채의 변환은 새로운 이미지로 전환시킨다. 색채는 물리적 특성을 가지는 것처럼 생명의 힘을 가지고 있고, 개인의 감정을 나타내며 재현에 있어 화면에 형상화하는 과정에서 또 다른 색채를 취하게 된다. 그러므로 색채의 변환은 객관적 색채로부터 색채 자체의 주관적인 가치를 부여하고 화면 안에 색채의 조화와 대비로 이미지를 극대화시키는 작용을 하며 공간질서와 통일감을 형성하는 데 있다. 그리고 변형된 이미지를 극대화시키기 위해 작업에 있어 반복의 형식을 취한 것은 현대 사회의 대량 생산되는 물건으로서 매스컴에서 반복되어 나오는 선전 광고 속의 이미지와 지속적으로 반복하여 돌아가는 사물에 변화를 통한 연속성과 시간성을 부여하고자 한 것이다. 이것은 화면 밖으로 확장되는 인상을 만들고 하나의 형태가 그 자체로서 보이기보다는 전체적인 화면을 구성해 새로운 이미지를 도출하려 하였다. 의도한 반복은 새로운 시각으로 읽혀지고 형태가 반복됨으로써 유기적인 형상을 취하고 확장된 공간으로 보이고자 하였다. 마지막으로 변형된 새로운 화면에 색의 변환을 거쳐 페인팅으로 중첩을 해가며 컴퓨터 화면의 이미지와는 또 다른 회화적인 느낌을 살려내면서 표현하는 작업이다. 본인에게 있어 작품의 창조는 공간 속에 생명을 부여하는 행위다. 형상표현이라는 측면에서 일상적인 사물의 본질을 찾아 화면에 유기적인 형태로 구체화시키고 생명을 불어넣는 과정에서 변형이라는 표현형식을 다루어 보았다.

| In art, various technologies are being utilized positively in manufacturing art works by having close relationship with art, while the course which makes analogical inference and makes transformation of images in digital environment, had changed essence of art in art works pursued by the existing pure art. In particular, computer is possible to capture images and transformation manipulation and passes through the course distorting with computer by projecting psychological angle of vision of oneself on the images which pass through daily life or become the object of interest and attention. Images created through distortion of these forms have used reproduction method of traditional paintings. Art works of myself intend to find out essence of things by containing static things in organic form through transforming images via computer graphic and through re-composing by subjective sensitivity just like application of color with method which re-presents actual photographs newly by combining photographs, computer graphic and pictorial expression methods. In addition, it reflects images of life obtained by exploring essential and specific life activities through light generating within things while making fluid light within screens through image transformation course. And it is also for encapsulating images of life and for expressing life force by modeling images of life by light into organic form. To myself, light is the light which is a life energy in organic form while destructing boundary between things which are seen and things which are not seen and things which shine and things which are shed. Area of expression is limitless as forms of fluid light change according to its direction and strength and also appear differently according to its distance. light seems like to sprawl strongly while its flow is dim and to be empty but energy overflows within it and it can be said that we look at there is energy in things because each shape we look at has light and bends and because I am the life instead of energy owned by the life as it is felt and detected to me. A field of vision looking at works was also expanded because things were also thought again in connection with the life. Works are done with daily forms we can see in our surroundings and ‘me’, who is the self of an author looking at the object things becomes the subjectivity. This means that light does not look at what exists within things but liveliness is blown in as the gaze looking within me sees things with light of the life. And images of photographs adopted through camera have attempted transformation of forms of expression in order to maximize the meaning intended to deliver instead of visual reproduction of images of things or famous pictures as re-composition of images has begun through computer works. It was tried to indicate effects of transforming static images into dynamic images in screen composition while preparing momentum to induce new experiences and interests through aesthetic effect and creative expression which appear by transforming objects. In order to blow feeling of life into paintings with forms by transformation abd distortion, works for re-creating traces images leave were carried out by using programs like photo shop in digital environment and visual effects in which forms are seen to have been transformed form space in which refraction of light is enlarged and space in which light of life is created. Also, by borrowing Gogh image, it was tried to change fixed images of screen by re-producing powerful and dynamic features by providing subjective values with another different gaze and by re-interpreting into forms and colors which actuality cannot have. Imagination of oneself and intervention provides screen with liveliness by falsification of images and by modeling images of life by light into organic forms and transformation of color is for diverting into new images. Just like color has physical characteristics, it also has strength of life and expresses emotion of individual and also takes another different color in re-production during the course of forming on screens. Therefore, transformation of color provides subjective values of color itself from objective colors and also operates maximizing images with harmony and contrast of colors within screens and has the purpose of forming space order and sense of unification. And for maximizing transformed images, it takes forms of repeat in works and makes impression of being expanded into outside of screens and it was tried to induce new images by composing overall screen instead of one form being seen in itself. It was tried that intended repeats were read in new gaze and forms take organic forms as they are repeated and are seen as expanded space. Lastly, it is the work which expresses while saving pictorial feeling which is different from images of computer screen by repeating and overlapping touches of brush several times on transformed new screen. Creation of works to an author is the behavior providing life within space. I have handled expression forms called transformation in the course which specifies organic form on screen through daily things in the aspect of form feature expression and blow a life.
