문자이미지를 응용한 금속조형연구

Abstract

현대인들은 이미지에 근거를 둔 의사소통의 시대에 살고 있다. 영화나 사진, 미술 등 최근의 예술작품들 뿐만 아니라 TV나 잡지를 통해 매일 접하는 광고 등에서도 이것은 극명하게 나타나는데 문화에 있어 시각 중심적 편견이 급증하면서 이러한 모습은 더 강력해지고 있다. 이로 인해 우리는 우리 이전의 세대보다 언어나 문자에 덜 의존하게 되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이에 대한 관심은 더 높아지고 있다. 이것은 문자발생과 역사에 대해 가지는 단순한 호기심과 함께 당시대에 대한 정보를 얻고자 함도 있으나 이와 더불어 문자가 가진 미적, 조형적인 매력도 우리의 관심을 끄는데 큰 몫을 차지하고 있다. 이러한 문자가 가지는 상징성, 조형성은 조형예술에 있어서 새로운 소재로 각광받고 있다. 이에 오래전부터 그리고 최근에 더욱 더 디자인 소재로 각광받고 있는 문자를 소재로 선정하고 대상의 조형적 특성을 파악하여 그 이미지를 새로운 시각적 표현수단으로 재구성하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 연구자는 “문자 이미지를 응용한 금속조형 연구”라는 주제로 문자를 사무공간이라는 일상적 생활공간 안에서 조형적으로 형상화함으로서 문자의 상징적 의미와 형태의 아름다움을 조형적으로 표현하고 이를 통하여 문자 자체가 가진 아름다움과 표현대상의 기능성이 화합함으로 조화로움을 이끌어내는데 목적을 두었다.|We live in the age of communication based on an image. This phenomena can be seen through not only the recent work of art such as in movies, photographies, and art, but also in advertisements in our everyday life. This phenomena is becoming more evident as prejudice focused on visual images in the culture are increasing. Accordingly, dependency on the language or letter has decreased when compared to that of the former generation. Nevertheless, the interest in the letter has been increasing. It might be due to a simple curiosity as well as desire for information on the history of the letter. Furthermore, aesthetic and formative attraction of the letter is an important factor of the interest. This symbolism and forms are in the limelight as a new subject matter of the formative art. Consequently, I make a selection of the letter, which is an important subject of design from the old ages, as the subject of the thesis, and look into formative characteristics of the object, and reconstruct the image of the letter as a new visual artistic presentation. I present symbolistic meaning and the beauty of the shape of the letter by giving formative shape to the letter in the workspace which is also a personal space in our daily life under the theme of "Study on the metal expression in the shape of the letter image". With this, the harmonization through combination, coexisting of the beauty of the character itself and functionality of the object can be drawn.
