리하르트 슈트라우스 피아노 가곡과 오케스트라 편곡 가곡의 반주부 비교 연구

Abstract

리하르트 슈트라우스(Richard Strauss, 1864-1949)의 가곡분야에 있어 가장 괄목할 만한 업적은 세기말적 음악양식의 사용 뿐 아니라 그의 피아노 가곡에 오케스트라 반주를 붙여 오케스트라 가곡 분야에서 큰 발전을 이끌어 냈다는 점이다. 그는 자신의 피아노 가곡의 표현을 풍부하게하기 위해 그 가곡을 오케스트라로 편곡했으며 이를 위해서 악기의 음색과 음향을 그의 피아노 가곡에 접목하였다. 오케스트라로 편곡 된 반주부를 연구해보면 슈트라우스가 그의 피아노 가곡의 반주부에서 의도한 효과와 표현에 대한 해석에 도움을 받을 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 슈트라우스의 가곡 중에서 피아노 가곡으로 작곡 되었다가 오케스트라로 편곡 된 가곡들 중 두 버전의 반주부의 차이가 분명히 드러나는 다섯 곡을 선택하여 반주부들을 선율, 화성, 리듬, 다이내믹 표현, 악기 편성 등의 측면에서 비교 연구하며 피아노로 반주 할 때의 효과적 표현 방법을 연구하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 논문에서는 우선 오케스트라 가곡의 일반적인 이해를 한 후 슈트라우스 가곡의 특징과 작품을 살펴보았다. 또한 그의 오케스트라 편곡 가곡에는 어떤 곡들이 있으며, 악기 편성과 음악적 특징을 살펴본 후 슈트라우스가 그의 피아노 가곡을 오케스트라로 편곡 한 가곡 중 다섯 곡을 선택하여 피아노 가곡과 오케스트라 편곡 곡의 반주부를 비교 분석하였다. 연구 결과 슈트라우스는 그의 오케스트라 편곡가곡에서 가사의 표현을 섬세하게 강화시키기 위해 다양한 악기의 음색을 효과적으로 사용하였으며, 오케스트라 음향의 특징인 다이내믹 표현을 극적이면서도 섬세하게 이용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이외에도 다양한 음형들을 다양한 악기들과 연결 시켜서 독특한 표현효과를 내고 있다. 슈트라우스는 이런 방법을 통하여 자신의 가곡에 풍부한 표현력을 가중시켰다.

| The most remarkable achievements in the field of Richard Strauss's songs is the use of the end of century music form as well as collaborating orchestral accompaniment in piano songs which led to great advances in the field of orchestral songs. To enrich the representation of his piano songs, Strauss arranged his songs with the orchestra, and grafted the tone and sound of the instruments to his piano songs. By studying the accompaniment of the songs arranged to orchestras, Strauss’ intended effects and expressions in his piano accompaniment can be interpreted. This paper chooses five of Strauss’ piano songs that show apparent differences in the accompaniment of the original and orchestra arranged version and compares the melody, chord, rhythm, dynamic expressions, instrumentation and etc. to study the effective representation of the piano accompaniment . This paper firstly will look into the historical background and characteristics of German Romantic songs to have a general understanding especially of orchestral songs and study the features and overview works of Strauss’ songs. In addition, after acknowledging Strauss’ orchestral arranged songs, the instrumentation and musical features, make a comparative analysis of the accompaniments of five piano songs that Strauss arranged to orchestras. The study shows Strauss effectively uses diverse tones of various instruments, and dynamic expressions that are dramatic yet delicate, a characteristic of orchestral sound, in order to delicately strengthen the lyrical expressions of his orchestral arrangements. Moreover Strauss connects various figures with a variety of instruments to create a unique expression. Through these methods Strauss increases affluent expressions to his songs.
