도시풍경의 재구성

Abstract

This paper examines the work in which the nostalgia for a different world is expressed via re-design of buildings in a city, as well as changes of landscape, reasons behind and process of the changes, focusing on the works created from 2006 to 2008, under the title of Ideal. Characteristics of contemporary painting are expressed by means of the artist’s consciousness and aesthetic sentiments based on various social experiences obtained in reality under the social environment and in the perspective of the artist, like general arts. This is why painting techniques have been expanding into many areas, while rapidly changing environment and social trends having various meanings and methods. Focusing on rapidly changing negative aspects of the environment today with these characteristics, the study examined the process how urban landscape has been changing and the theoretical significance and redesigned buildings in the landscape of modern cities as a sign of development into different urban landscape. In addition, by means of the redesign of buildings in cities to express frustration in reality, the study explored the reason behind the nostalgia for a different world. Landscape has a unique meaning in combination of natural and cultural elements. It is possible to fathom not only the characteristics of the landscape with the passage of time, but also the culture of the time. With these characteristics in mind, the author investigates metaphoric nature of building images, beginning with internal subjectivity of landscape inherent in visual reality and external connectivity of space. In addition, under the theme of modern urban landscape, the study paid attention to the landscape of a different imagined city, a new world, on the basis of subjective process in the rule of metaphor and metonymy as an imaginary power beyond human vision. The author examined the representation of landscape in which visually objective landscape containing organic reality changes into subjective awareness of individuals, origin and concepts of urban landscape painting, and how change process has affected works. Furthermore, by analyzing the work of the author in light of re-design of selected image, the study introduced the different world pursued by the author into urban landscape as a modern environment to explore the characteristics of the work and suggest directions for the future.|본 논문은 2006년부터 2008년까지의 작업을 중심으로 “이상” (理 想) 이란 전시 명 아래 작품의 소재가 되는 풍경 변화 배경 및 과정과 도시의 건물을 소재로 한 공간의 재구성을 중심으로 ‘다른 세계’에 대한 동경의 표현을 제시한 작품연 구 논문이다. 현대 회화의 특징은 일반적인 예술과 마찬가지로 사회 환경과 작가의 세계관을 바 탕으로 현실에서 느껴지는 수많은 사회적 경험에 근거하여 자신의 내면의식과 미적 인 감성을 기초로 표현되어 지고 있다. 이는 현대 환경의 빠른 변화와 빠르게 변화 하는 사회의 흐름 등이 다양한 의미와 방식으로 꾸준히 변화되어 회화의 표현방식 들이 여러 영역으로 확장해 나아가는 이유이기도 하다. 이러한 특징을 바탕으로 빠 르게 변화되어온 현대 환경의 부정적인 모습들을 통하여 도시풍경의 변화 과정과 이론적 의미 그리고 성장적으로 보여 지는 현대 도시 풍경의 건물들을 소재로 또 다른 도시풍경의 재구성을 표현하였다. 또한 도시건물의 재구성으로 현실의 답답함 을 표현하여 ‘다른 세계’ 에 대한 동경의 이유를 알아보았다. 풍경은 자연적, 문화적 요소들의 통합으로 각 풍경들은 자신들만의 고유한 의미 성을 담고 있다. 시대의 변화마다 각 풍경의 특징을 알 수 있을 뿐 아니라 그 당시 의 문화까지도 추측 할 수 있는 부분을 내포하고 있다. 이러한 특징을 바탕으로 본 인은 시각적 현실 속에 자리 잡은 풍경의 내적인 주관성과 공간의 외적인 연결성을 시작으로 도시의 건물이미지들의 소재인 은유적 성격을 살펴보았다. 또한 현대 도 시 “풍경” 이라는 명제 아래 인간에게 주어진 시각 너머 환상의 힘인 은유와 환 유의 법칙에서의 주관적인 성립 과정을 토대로 또 다른 상상된 도시 풍경(새로운 세계)의 주목함을 알아보았다. 본인은 현실의 유기체를 담고 있는 시각상의 객관 풍경이 개인적 주관성의 인식으 로 변화되는 풍경의 재현과 도시풍경화의 발생 및 개념, 변화과정을 토대로 작품에 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 본인 작품인 선택된 이미지의 재 구성으로 작품의 내용적인 측면을 분석 하여 본인이 바라는 ‘다른 세계’를 현대 환경인 도시풍경에 이입함으로서 작품의 특징을 모색하고, 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 본 논문을 통해 연구 하였다.
