단순화된 사물의 다의적 시각표현 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 2002년에서 2003년 사이에 제작된 본인의 작품들을 대상으로 하여 단순화된 사물을 통해 보는 이가 생각하는 새로운 사물에 대한 기억과 제작과정 그리고 표현방법에 대해 논한 것이다. 본인은 우리의 주변 삶에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 것으로서 너무나 당연하게 생각되어지고 있는 사물들을 새롭게 재인식 할 수 있도록 표현하고자 하였다. 개인적으로 특별하게 여기거나, 특별히 여기지 않은 사물, 혹은 경험이 주관적인 감정 세계의 한 부분으로 표출되어 그것이 화면에서 미적인 대상으로 재조명되고 새로운 이미지를 갖게 되며 본인과 일상 사물과의 관계를 확립하고자 하였다. 이에 본인이 만들어낸 'BODYSHAPE'란 단어에 대한 의미를 설명하였고, 이 단어는 본인이 작품을 통해 표현하고자하는 의미, 내용을 함축하고 있음을 나타내고자 하였다. 또한 단순화된 사물의 형태를 통해 보여지는 다의적 시각에 대한 해석과 표현된 사물을 통한 지각 현상에 대해 설명하였으며 본인이 표현한 작품들의 재료의 특성에 따른 표현방법에 대해 서술하고 있다. 우리가 일상 생활에서 흔히 사용하는 재료를 이용한 사물의 표현, 흑연의 물질성을 통해 표현되는 작품 그리고 본인의 트레이드 마크이자 감정이 이입된 점선을 이용한 드로잉을 통해 작품을 표현하였다. 그리고 본인은 콜라그래피, 드로잉과 스텐실, 디지털 프린트로 구분하여 작품을 분석, 설명하여 작품을 통해 본인이 의도하고자 한 일상사물의 다의적 시각 표현에 대해 서술하였다. 현대 사회를 살아가고 있는 우리들은 다양한 사물을 접하고 사용하면서 생활하고 있다. 그리고 우리는 그것들을 떼어버릴 수 없을 정도로 사물들과 밀접하다고 할 수 있으며 이런 사물들을 통해 사람들은 자신들이 겪은 나름대로의 경험과 사건을 기억하고 추억한다. 그리고 기억나게 하고 추억하게 하는 것들 (사람이든, 사물이든)은 본인의 의식 속에 저마다의 의미들을 가지고 있기에 우리가 어떤 사물을 접했을 때 그 사물에 대한 지각을 하게 되는 것이다. 언젠가 찍은 사진 속에 보여지는 사물을 보고 그 사물로 인해 연상되는 기억들을 내 속에 어떤 흔적(관념, 의미)을 표출해 내고자 하는 것처럼 말이다. 그들은 조금씩 다른 시점에서 사물을 보고 있기 때문에 조금씩 다르게 보일 수 밖에 없는 것이란 점을 제시하였으며, 정답 아닌 정답을 찾고자 하는 사람들의 강박 관념을 극복하고자 하였다. 본인은 한 사람의 눈에 직접 비쳐진 것이 다른 사람의 눈에도 동일하게 비치지는 않는 이러한 사물의 .BODYSHAPE을 단순화 시키고 주변 사물을 이용하여 또 다른 사물을 제시하였으며 재료의 물질성을 통해 표현되어진 작품을 조형적인 측면에서 접근하여 연구, 분석하였다.|This thesis is a discussion on recollection, production process, and expression method used for new objects a person sees through simplified object pieces created by the writer from 2002 to 2003. The purpose was to shed new light on ordinary objects that exist as accepted parts of our lives. Objects of personal value, objects not of personal value, and even personal experiences became manifestations as parts of a world of subjective emotions, establishing a relationship between the artist and the everyday objects in representing them as aesthetic subjects on canvas and in forms of new images. To this end, the word "BODYSHAPE," which the artist created to imply the meaning and the context of her works. The dissertation progresses to define the equivocal points of view seen through forms of the simplified objects, explain the phenomenon of perception through the expressed objects, and narrate the artist's expressive method that bases on material qualities. The art pieces were expressed using everyday items, through physical traits of graphite, and by using emotion-introduced perforated line drawings, a trademark of the artist. The writer then analyzed and described the works in categories of collagraphy, drawing, stencil, and digital print before accounting on the intended equivocal expressions of everyday items. We encounter and use countless number of objects in our modern society lives. We recollect and reminisce upon our own experiences and events through these objects with which we have unbreakable bond. And because things that make us remember and reminisce, whether person or object, have meanings and significances in our minds, they provide us with perception of an object when we encounter that particular object. Like staring at objects in a photograph and portraying the associated traces (ideas and meanings) lingering in the mind. It was presented in this thesis that the audience can only perceive objects differently because they are of different perception and overcame the obsession of those seeking answers that are not answers. This writer simplified the "BODYSHAPE" of objects that yield different perceptions on different people and used other nearby objects to present entirely new objects. Lastly, the writer studied and analyzed works portrayed using the material's corporeity by approaching them from a formative angle.
