『論語』에 나타난 君子像 硏究

Abstract

본 연구는 '『論語』 에 나타난 君子像 硏究'이다. 春秋時代는 혈연적인 토대 위에 세워진 周나라의 宗法秩序가 흔들리게 되면서부터 각 지배계층 사이의 갈등이 증폭되었던 시대였으며, 이러한 갈등은 사회의 혼란을 가중시키는 직접적인 원인이 되었다. 孔子는 사회의 혼란이 사회성 자각의 결여에 따른 인간의 이기심에서 비롯된다고 생각하였다. 그래서 孔子는 인간의 사회적 자각을 위한 교육의 필요성을 절감하게 되었고, 그의 제자들에게 사회적 자각을 통하여 인간됨을 실현하기 위해 노력하는 君子라는 인간상을 제시하였다. 君子는 본래 사회적 지위를 가진 지배계급을 지칭하는 말이었으나, 孔子는 그 의미를 완전히 바꾸어 인간됨을 실현하기 위해 노력하는 인간을 君子로 명명하였다. 孔子가 강조한 君子는 단순히 자신의 인격수양을 최종의 목표로 삼는 도덕적인 인간형만을 의미하는 것은 아니다. 君子는 혼란스럽고 무질서한 사회 상황 속에서도, 흔들림 없이 자신의 인격을 바로 닦아서 타인을 돕고, 그로 말미암아 상호 신뢰하는 사회를 이룩하고자 노력하는 실천적인 인간형이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 인간의 이기심에서 비롯된 많은 문제점들을 극복하고, 미래사회를 상호 신뢰하는 사회로 이끌어 갈 실천적인 인간의 모습을 孔子가 강조한 君子라는 인간상에서 찾고자 하였다. 君子를 분석하기 위해서는 孔子의 思想을 담고 있는 텍스트가 매우 중요하다. 그리하여 발표자는 1장에서 공자의 사상을 연구하는데 필요한 문헌을 검토하였다. 思想은 그 시대의 산물로서, 인간이 살고 있는 현실 상황을 구체적으로 반영한다. 그러므로 思想은 사회와의 관련 속에서 잘 파악될 수 있다. 이에 2장에서는 孔子의 思想을 이해하기 위하여, 春秋時代의 사회 정치적 배경을 고찰하였다. 孔子의 人間理解는 당시 상황에서 획기적인 발상이었다. 그러므로 孔子가 강조한 君子를 고찰하기 위해서는 孔予의 人間理解에 대한 일정한 견해를 밝힐 필요가 있다. 그리하여 3장에서는 孔子의 人間理解를 君子와 小人, 志士와 仁人, 그리고 聖人으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 4장에서는 君子의 德性과 수양덕목에 관하여 고찰하였다. 君子의 德性으로 謙讓, 信義, 勇氣를 들었고, 君子의 실천태도로 學思竝進, 精進, 愼言, 文質彬彬을 들어 이에 대하여 고찰하였다. 5장에서는 앞에서 고찰한 君子의 모습을 정리하고, 孔子가 강조한 君子가 현대를 살아가는 우리에게 어떠한 시사점을 줄 수 있는지 논의하였다.|This study relates to 'the image of Gentlem shown in the 『Discourse of Confucius』.' Since clan rules of Zhou founded on the basis of blood were disordered, conflict among controlling classes were deepened in the Chunchu times, and such conflict was a direct cause to aggravate social confusion. Confucius thought that social confusion is originated from human egoism by lack of social awakening. Therefore, Confucius realized the need of education for social awakening of people and suggested the image of gentleman who makes effort to realize humanism through social awakening to his pupils. Originally, gentleman was called the controlling class with high standing in the society, however, Confucius totally changed the original meaning and called it as man who makes effort to realize humanism. Gentleman emphasized by Confucius is not an ethical image of men who just sets building one's character as final target. Gentleman is a practical image of men, who makes every effort to right cultivate his or her personality without disturbance even in disorderly society, and to realize mutually reliable society. Therefore, this study was attempted to find a practical image of men to overcome many problems caused from human egoism and lead future society to mutually reliable one from the image of Gentleman. Text with Confucius's idea is very important to analyze Gentleman. Therefore, in Chapter 1, the researcher examined literatures necessary to study Confucius's idea. Idea is fruit of the time and reflects in detail the then situation of people. Idea can be examined well in connection with the society. Therefore, in Chapter 2, to understand Confucius's idea, sociopolitical background of the Chunchu times was examined. Confucius's understanding of men was epoch-making idea in the then situation. Therefore, consistent opinion on the Confucius's understanding shall be disclosed to examine Gentleman emphasized by Confucius. Therefore, in Chapter 3, the Confucius's understanding of men was examined by Gentleman, minor, noble-minded patriot, a man of virtue, and holy man. In Chapter 4, moral character and culture principles of Gentleman were considered. Modesty, faith and courage were examined as moral characters of Gentleman, and running parallel with academic idea, purification, divine word, and Munjilbinbin(harmonization between the inside and the outside) were examined as culture principles of Gentleman. In Chapter 5, the images of Gentleman were summarized, which were examined in the above, and what suggestion Gentleman gives modern people, who was emphasized by Confucius, was discussed.
