내적 표현으로서의 도시 이미지

Abstract

이 논문은 석사학위 청구 논문으로서 2007년부터 2008년 사이에 제작된 본인의 작품들을 내용적(內容的) 측면과 조형적(造型的) 측면에서 분석하고 고찰하였다. 예술, 특히 미술은 작가의 조형언어이면서 말로 표현하기 힘든 감성적인 면을 함축하고 있다고 생각한다. 그림을 통해 감성을 드러냄으로써 자신안의 감성을 분석해 볼 수 있고, 또 내면에 존재하는 감성을 불러일으켜 그 가치를 환기시킬 수 있다. 그것이 구체적 실생활의 총체성과 연관을 가지면서 스스로의 표현 수단이 되고 ‘모든 인간’을 위한 감정이입의 매개체가 되는 한에서 즉, 현존의 실생활에서 결과된 체험의 총화를 끌어들여 예술적 표현의 동질적형태안에 포괄시킬 수 있는 그 행위의 미적, 규범적 토대를 형성하는 것이므로 예술작품은 그것을 둘러싼 환경적 요인과 사회의 물리적 상태가 주된 감정을 결정하며 그 시대의 감정의 표현인 것이다. 자신만의 조형 언어로 재창조하는 문제에 있어서 본인이 표현하고자 하는 주제는 현대 도시풍경의 공간표현 속에서 인간과 자연의 소통을 작품으로 표현해 보고자 하였다. 지난 1세기 동안 미술가들은 도시가 변화하는 모습에 관심을 가져왔다. 도시의 근대성에 주목했던 인상주의로부터 입체주의, 미래주의의 도시에 대한 진보적 해석, 도시민의 궁핍한 삶이나 전쟁으로 폐허가 된 도시를 표현하는 사회학적 관점에 이르기까지 도시는 미술의 중요한 모티브가 되어 왔다. 도시 풍경은 인간과 자연을 경계 짓기도 하고 아우르기도 하는 현대문명의 산물이다. 하루하루를 살아가고 있는 화려한 도시 속에서 이미 변해버린 또 다른 자연을 응시하며 인공으로 규정지어진 미(美) 속에서 느끼는 고독과 쓸쓸함, 외로움 등의 이중적 감성을 깨닫게 되었다. 또한 삭막한 현실세계에서 마음 깊은 곳에 있는 유토피아적 세계를 찾아가는 출발점으로 인간과 자연의 관계를 새롭게 조망할 수 있는 도시풍경을 찾고자 했다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 과정을 내용적, 조형적 측면에서 분석 하였다. 내용적 측면에서는 현대 도시의 의미와 조형적 대상의로서의 도시에 대해 분석하고 도시와 자연과의 관계에 대해 논의 한다. 조형적 측면에서는 점의 표현, 흑백 이미지, 공간 크게 세 가지로 분류하여 논의하였다. 첫째, 점은 움직임에 따라 최소한의 기본 형태에서 선을 이루기도 하고 면을 이루기도 한다. 도시 이미지는 점이 움직이면서 만들어내는 연속적인 움직임을 통해 표현된다. 판의 표면에 도구와 충돌함으로써 형성되는 점을 통해 도시의 구조가 표현된다. 다양한 크기와 모양의 점들은 규칙적이고 반복적인 일상의 도시 공간을 만들어 나가는데 적합하다고 보고 이를 조형화 했다. 둘째, 도시는 눈으로 보여 지는 색채, 예를 들어 길게 늘어선 자동차의 빛들과 수많은 건물들을 밝히는 간판들의 불빛은 다채로운 색채를 만들어 내지만 일정한 거리를 두고 보면, 차갑고 인위적이며 정지되어 있는 커다란 단색조의 구조물 덩어리로 보인다. 이를 표현하기 위해 흑백이미지로 조형화 하였다. 셋째, 도시는 인위적인 인공의 공간으로, 자연(나무)의 이미지는 시간성을 보여주는 구조로 나누어 조형화 하였다. 방법적 연구에 있어서는 흑백이미지로서의 도시 표현 연구와 도시와 자연의 관계 표현연구에 관해 살펴보았다. 작품을 표현한 방법은 목판화 기법과 Digital print기법(overlap image)을 사용하였다.|This thesis is thesis to apply for master's degree. Then, I analyzed and studied my works manufactured from 2007 to 2008 from the side of contents and the side of modeling. I think that art, especially, fine art is plastic language of artist and it is implying sensitive side to be difficult to express with words. One may try to analyze sensitivity in oneself by revealing sensitivity through drawing and may arouse the value by arousing sensitivity to exist in inside. As far as it becomes own expression means and media of empathy for all the human beings as it is connected with whole nature of concrete real life, it forms aesthetic and normative base of the behavior to be able to include in the homogeneous form of artistic expression by drawing the integration of experience resulted from existing real life. So, in art work, environmental factor surrounding it and physical state of society decide main feeling, and it is the expression of feeling of the period. As for subject that I try to express in issue to recreate with own plastic language, I tried to express mutual understanding between human being and nature as work in space expression of modern city landscape. For the past 1 century, artists have had interest in the form that city changes. City has been the important motive of fine art from impressionism which noticed modernity of city to progressive interpretation of cubism and futurism for city, and sociological viewpoint to express needy life of city dwellers or city which became ruins due to war. City landscape is the product of modern civilization which defines boundaries between human beings and nature and unite them. I came to realize double sensitivity such as solitude and loneliness to feel in beauty prescribed artificially, staring at already changed another nature in gorgeous city that human beings live every day. In addition, I tried to find city landscape to be able to look out on the relation between human beings and nature newly as starting point to visit utopian world which is in deep mind in desolate actuality world. In this thesis, I analyzed this course from the side of contents and the side of modeling. From the side of contents, I analyze meaning of modern city and city as plastic subject and discuss the relation between city and nature. From the side of plastic side, I discussed by classifying dot expression, black and white image, and composition greatly. First, dot forms line and surface in minimum basic form in accordance with movement. City image is expressed through continuous movement that dot makes, moving. Through dot to be formed by colliding with tool on the surface of board, structure of city is expressed. By thinking that dots of diverse size and forms are suitable for making regular and repetitious daily city space, I made this into modeling. Second, city makes color to be seen with eyes, for example, lights of automobiles which stand in a row long and light of signboards to brighten numerous buildings make diverse colors. But, if we see it with constant distance, it seems to be great structure mass of monochrome which is cold and artificial and stops. For expressing this, I made into molding with black and white image. Third, I made into molding by classifying city as artificial space and nature(wood) image as structure to show time nature. In methodological study, I examined expression study of city as black and white image and expression study of relation between city and nature. As for method to express works, I used pointillisme and digital print technique(overlap image).
