꽃이미지의 평면, 입체적 대비의 표현에 관한 연구 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 1999년부터 2000년 사이에 제작되어 전시한바 있는 석사 학위 청구전의 작품을 중심으로 해서 내용적 측면과 조형적 측면으로 작품 분석을 시도하였다. 세상의 살아있는 모든 생명체는 생성과 소멸의 과정을 거친다. 이러한 보편적 일상의 의미는 본인 작업의 동기를 부여하고, 그 의미를 잘 대변해 줄 거라 여긴 꽃이미지를 화면에 도입해 다양한 표현형식을 취하게 된다. 본인 작품의 특징은 세가지로 구분할 수 있다. 그것은 평면과 입체의 대비를 통한 상반된 분위기, 유채색과 무채색의 대비, 꽃이미지의 확대표현으로 볼 수 있다. 회화적 기법을 이용한 평면의 식물의 이미지의 재현은 화면에 활기를 느끼게 한다. 그러나 부조형식의 이미지는 박제된 듯 고정되어 무채색과 더불어 경직되고 정적인 즉, 활기가 없는 분위기가 느껴진다. 따라서 입체적 표현과 평면성, 상반된 분위기 연출의 관계 안에서 파생되는 보편적인 일상의 대비 방식은 한 사물의 존재여부를 비교된 대상을 통해, 각각에 영향을 미쳐 상징적 의미를 부여한다. 즉, 이러한 종합적인 구성은 삶의 생성, 소멸이라는 의미를 부각시킨다. 표현배경과 그 근거를 밝히는데 있어서는 식물이미지의 회화적 표현과 부조형식의 대비효과를 통한 그 의미를 평면, 입체의 시지각적 측면으로 알아보았다. 그리고 내용은 다르나 표현방식에 있어 유사한 현대 작가- 피카소, 앤디 워홀, 재스퍼 존스, 래리 리버스 - 의 작품세계를 통해 대비형식의 효과와 그 역할 등 을 분석함으로서 본인 작품의 내용과 조형적 측면의 맥락을 찾아보았다.|In this study, I analyzed the works, submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Fine Arts, in terms of subject-matter and style. And to analysis my works, I studied not only my works, but also the paintings of modern western artists, like Andy Warhol, Jasper Johnes, Georgia O'keeffe, and others. The characters of my works can be said to be three facts. The first is the antithesis of the flat expression of painting and the three dimensional image of relief. The second character is the cotrasted colours between mono and polychrome. The last is the monumentality of images. TO show the process of every living being, I choose plants as my subject-matter in my works, because I believe that plants can show it well. Thus, in the polychromatic paintings, I tried to express the vitality of plants reached at the peak, while the reliefs painted in monochrome were represented in the sense of extinction. The reason of the use of these contrast ways is because I wanted to represent the universal truth. It is that everything is in the process of the creation and extinction.
