꽃살문을 응용한 패브릭 디자인 연구

Abstract

사람들은 하루가 다르게 변화하는 지극히 개인적이고 획일화된 일상을 살아가면서 소박하지만 여유가 있었던 과거를 막연히 동경한다. 사회가 변화하고 발전해 나가는 것에 비해 예술은 아직까지 가까이가기 힘든, 어쩌면 일부의 사람들만이 누릴 수 있는 사치라고 단정 짓는 사람들이 많다. 하지만 우리의 일상을 자세히 들여다보면 모든 것에는 예술적 가치가 내재되어있다. 아주 작은 생활 소품일지라도 마음의 여유를 가지고 자신이 생각하는 예술적 의미를 부여함으로써 예술에 대한 부정적 시각은 조금 사라지게 될 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 전통적인 ‘꽃살문 문양’에 주목하였다. 이 문양은 과거 한국인의 민족성과 정서를 담고 있는 대표적인 문화유산이며, 더불어 현재의 예술을 이어주는 매개체 역할을 하고 있다. 꽃살문 문양은 소박하고 순수한 한국적인 아름다움이 함축되어있고, 규칙과 질서를 갖추고 있어 세련된 멋과 독특한 정취를 담아 낼 수 있다. 본 연구에서 꽃살문 문양은 전통적으로 공간과 공간을 분리시켜주는 문에 나타나 있는 단순한 문양의 개념이 아니라 화려하면서도 정감 있는 이미지를 현대적 정서와 감각에 맞게 표현하고 실용성과 예술성을 고루 갖춘 한국적 이미지로 디자인하였다. 과거에 대한 동경이 퇴보하는 것이라는 비판이 있을 수 있으나 본 연구에서의 전통지향은 미래를 위한 또 다른 도약이다. ‘가장 한국적인 것이 세계적이다.’라는 말이 있듯이 그 도약의 끝은 세계와 통하는 길이 될 것이다.|From the modern lives, which demand rapid changes and conformity, people crave for the time in past where lives were more relaxed and comfortable. Many recognize art as a luxurious item, which cannot be touched by mid level of society. However, if we look at our present everyday life, we find hidden values of art lives within. Through giving value to the each and every object in our lives, the negativity and arrogant view towards art will disappear. To me, Floral Design Lattice Door of Korean Temples represents an inherited bridge from our elders to connects the part art to modern art. It signifies the simplicity of Korean beauty by holding the distinctiveness through enlightened modern pattern. Instead of recognizing its pattern as only a way to divide the past and present way of decorating doors, this research incorporated the Floral Design Lattice Door of Korean Temples to modern practicality while the distinctiveness of hidden Korean values are preserved. Many say that aspirating past is a way of retrogression however I consider it as a method to jump even further towards what we will face in the future.
