今昔物語에 관한 일고찰

Abstract

이 논문은 일본 최대의 설화집인『곤자쿠모노가타리슈(今昔物語集)』의 권10 진단부(震旦部) 세속(世俗)설화를 텍스트로 하여 영향 관계가 있는 선대 문헌 자료를 통해서 그 수용과 변용의 모습을 고찰한 것이다. 권10에 대한 지금까지의 선행연구가 출전의 추적 혹은 권10의 구성에 관한 것에 한정된 것에 비해서, 본고에서는 해당 설화를 선대의 공통설화와 비교 분석하여 수용된 것과 변용된 것으로 구분하였다. 특히 변용에 있어서는 단순히 플롯의 변화만을 지적한 것이 아닌, 인물 소재 주제를 중심으로 다각적인 변화의 양상을 분석하여 경향성을 찾고자 하였다. 비교 분석의 방법으로는 제2장에서는 선대 일본 문헌 자료 중에서, 오늘날 권10의 유력한 출전으로 지목되는 가나문의 가론서『도시요리즈이노(俊???)』와의 공통화를 비교분석하여 수용관계를 명확히 하고자 했다. 또한 한문체 설화집 『츄코센(注好選)』과의 공통화를 비교분석하였으며 권10과는 어떠한 수용관계가 있는지 고찰하고자 하였다. 한편으로는 한문체로 기록된『注好選』이 한적의 매개체로서 권10에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지 조사하기 위하여 한적『몽구(蒙求)』의 공통화까지 3차원적인 비교를 하였다. 제3장에서는 권10에서 아직 출전이 밝혀지지 않는 설화를 그 원거가 되는 한적과 공통화를 비교하는 것으로서 그 수용과 변화의 관계를 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 그 처음으로, 권10의 설화 중 4화의 설화가 『장자(?子)』를 출전으로 하고 있음에 착안하여 그 공통화를 비교분석하였다. 그 결과 권10과의 『장자』관련 공통화는 원거의 여러 편에서 유명 일화들을 추출하여, 하나의 설화로 묶어서 원거『장자』와 다른 주제를 이야기하는 경향성을 나타내었다. 특히, 어려운 사상이나 관념적 이야기는 배제시키고 단순화 시켜서 주제와의 연결을 노렸다. 한편, 권10의 『사기(史記)』를 원거로 하는 최초의 3화에서는, 편자가 주제의식을 나타내기보다는 역사사실을 전달하려고 하였으며, 이 과정에서 『사기』의 대표적 소재를 차용하여 새로운 설화를 조직하였다. 또한 위의 원거처럼 다수의 설화를 가지지 않는 『춘추좌씨전(春秋左氏傳)』과『몽구』의 공통화를 비교분석하여 그 수용과 변화를 양상을 고찰하였다. 『춘추좌씨전』에서는 소재의 차용은 물론 원거에 없는 후일담이 추가되어, 성어의 유래담을 설명하고자 하는 편자의 의도를 뒷받침하게 하였다. 『몽구』에서는, 『곤자쿠모노가타리슈』에서 뒷부분이 삭제된 의도를 분석하기 위해, 동시대의 일본번안설화집인 『가라모노가타리(唐物語)』와의 비교를 통해서 주제의 변화를 위함이었음을 명확히 하였다.|This study investigated the type of acceptance and changes with the text of secular tales for the Jindan part in the tenth volume of KONJAKUMONOGATARISYU, which is the largest collection of Japanese tales through prior literatures related to effects. While prior studies on the tenth volume had been limited to tracking the source or to the composition of the volume, this study analyzed tales as compared with common tales in the previous age to categorize them into accepted and transformed groups. As for transformations, particularly, just changes in plot were not indicated but an attempt was made to analyze aspects of multilateral changes primarily in characters, materials, and themes in search of a tendency. Chapter 2 made a comparative analysis for common things with TOSIYORIZUINOU of Ganamun indicated as a reliable source of the current tenth volume, among Japanese literatures in the previous age, in order to clarify acceptance relations. Another comparative analysis was made for common things with CYUKOUSEN, which is a collection of Chinese-written tales, in order to determine what acceptance relations it had with the tenth volume. On the other hand, a 3D comparative analysis was made, including a Chinese book MOUGYU, for common things to determine how Juhoseon written in Chinese as a medium of a Chinese book affected the tenth volume. Chapter 3 compared tales in the tenth volume, whose source had not been discovered yet, with a Chinese book as its basis for common things in order to investigate relations between its acceptance and changes. To begin with, since four tales in the tenth volume originated in SOUSI, a comparative analysis was made for common things. By the first three tales based on Sagi in the tenth volume, the editor tried to convey historical facts rather than to express a sense of theme, during which process he borrowed a typical material of Sagi to create a new tale. And a comparative analysis was made with Monggu and Chunchujwassijeon containing not many tales as in the basis for common things to investigate aspects of acceptance and changes.
