교육연극을 활용한 시 교수법 연구

Abstract

제 7차 교육 과정에서는 기존의 텍스트 분석 관점에서 학습자의 수용성을 강조하는 관점으로 시 교육의 방향을 전환하고 있다. 이에 시 교육에서는 텍스트의 의미 구성자로서 학습자의 역할을 강조한다. 따라서 이 글에서는 시 텍스트에 대한 학습자의 반응을 유도하여 주체적으로 의미를 구성하게 하고, 궁극적으로 감동과 내면화의 심화된 감상 단계까지 이르게 할 수 있는 교수ㆍ학습 방법으로 교육연극을 제안하여 그 구체적 방법을 모색해 보았다. 먼저, 이 글에서는 교육연극과 시 교육의 연관성을 지식이나 의미는 정해져 있는것이 아니라 학생 자신이 적극적으로 대상과 상호작용함으로써 구성해 나가는 것으로 보는 구성주의 관점과 그 맥을 같이 한다는 점에서 찾았다. 교육연극은 다양한 연극적 기법들로 학생들의 능동적인 참여를 이끌어 내고 학생들 간의 상호작용을 통해 시 수업에 참여하는 학생들 스스로 능동적이고 새로운 의미구성을 할 수 있도록 도우며 이러한 상호작용을 통해 시적 인식력을 더 나은 수준으로 끌어올릴 수 있도록 함으로써 구성주의 관점에 의한 시 교육의 방법론이 될 수 있다. 또 교육연극을 시 교육에 적용할 수 있는 근거를 교육연극이 학습자로 하여금 시적 화자로 가정을 할 수 있게 한다는 점에서 찾았다. 시를 감상하는 가장 효과적인 방법 중 하나는 화자나 시인을 자신과 동일시하여 시의 말들이 바로 나 자신의 말인 양 읽는 것이다. 교육연극은 학습자로 하여금 시의 화자로 가정할 수 있는 구체적 학습 환경을 조성해 준다. 화자로 가정할 수 있는 환경이란 시적 상황이 사건이 되고 화자가 인물이 되는 극적 공간을 말한다. 이렇게 화자와 동일시되어 시를 읽으면 화자의 정서와 태도뿐만 아니라 이미지, 어조 등 시의 다른 요소들도 이해하기 쉬워진다. 학습자는 화자가 이미지에 둘러싸여 있듯 이미지로 유추된 극적 배경에 둘러싸여 화자의 어조를 대사로 실현하게 된다. 이러한 이론적 근거를 토대로 교육연극을 활용한 시 수업 모형을 설계했다. 모형의 단계는 1. 학습 목표와 텍스트 선정, 2. 학습 환경 조성하기, 3. 시 낭독하기,4. 자유롭게 쓰기, 5.시적 상황 연행하기 , 6. 이미지 연행하기, 7. 시로 이야기 만들기, 8. 모둠별 토론 및 상호 평가, 9. 비평적 에세이 쓰기 이다. 각 단계에서는 여러 가지 교육연극 기법을 시 수업 ‘활동’으로 이용했다. 화자의 상황과 시의 이미지를 체화하는 활동으로 정지장면(tableau), 세 장면 (3 cut drama), 이미지 갤러리(imagegallery), 동작극(Moving image) 등을 이용했고, 화자의 심리 변화와 태도, 어조를 체화하는 활동으로 빈 의자 기법(empty chair), 극중 인물과의 대화(hot seating), 토론연극(forum theater), 역할극(Role Playing) 등을 이용했다. 마지막으로, 이 모형을 김소월의「진달래꽃」을 텍스트로 한 시 수업에 적용해 보고 그 교육적 가능성과 효용성을 살펴보았다.|This study proposed an educational play as a teaching-learning method which induces learners to respond to a poetic text, has them construct meaning subjectively and enables them to ultimately reach even the stage of impression and appreciation internalized and deepened, and sought its concrete methods. The play can become methodology of teaching poetry by a constructivistic viewpoint by leading students to actively participate in it in various techniques of play, helping students participating in poetry classes to construct meaning actively and newly by themselves through the interaction among them and enabling them to enhance their poetic cognition through the interaction. The ground for applying the play to poetry education was found out in the play enabling learners to assume themselves to be poetic speakers. Reading poems identified with speakers facilitates understanding not only their emotions and attitudes but poetic different elements such as their images and tones. Based on the theoretical grounds, I designed a model for giving poetry classes by using the play. The model consisted of the stages such as 1.learning objective and choosing a text, 2. creating learning environment,3. reading a poem aloud, 4. writing freely, 5. performing poetic situation,6. performing an image, 7. writing a story by a poem, 8. group-specific discussion and mutual evaluation and 9. writing a critical essay. Each stage used various techniques of educational play as the 'activities' of poetry classes. Finally, I applied the model to a poem class with Sowol Gim's Azalea as a text and explored its educational possibility and utility.
