공간의 기억에 관한 수행적 표현 연구

Abstract

연구자는 주변의 사물들과 풍경을 수집하고 그것을 기억에 연결시켜 표현하려고 하였다. 사용한 사물에는 사용한 사람의 과거 기억과 추억 등이 담겨있다. 사물들의 형태와 성격을 분석하여 장소와 사람들이 담고 있는 이야기들을 끌어내고자 한다. 인간은 공간에서 지각을 활성화할 수 있는 다양한 체험을 경험하게 되며, 인식구조와 지각의 과정이 지속적으로 순환되면서 새로운 기억과 의미가 생성되고 축적되기를 반복한다. 이로 인해, 우리는 장소에 대한 친밀감과 애착을 느끼게 되고 장소에 대한 인식과 감정이 결합되어 하나의 특별한 장소성을 형성하는 것이다. 연구자의 대상 장소는 과거에서 현재로 혹은 현재에서 새로운 변화를 일으키고 있는 곳이며, 천과 옷 공장 등 가내 수공업에 기반한 여성의 노동공간이라고 할 수 있다. 연구자는 장소를 여러 차례 찾아가 공간에 대한 경험을 기록하여 오고 있다. 연구자의 작품은 단순한 재현이 아니라, 개인적이고 독특한 경험을 통해 지시적인 이미지가 아닌 새로운 미적 경험을 제시하게 된다. 연구자는 장소가 가진 상징성과 형태가 가진 심미성에 의해 물건들과 이미지들을 선택하여 수집한다. 현장의 기억을 환기하고자 하는 매개체로 선택된 물건들과 장소의 모습을 담은 사진들은 삶의 장소에서 사용되어, 낡고 보잘것없는 물건들로 치부되지만, 장소와 그 생활의 모습을 담아내고 있어, 연구자에 의해 실제 장소를 대신하여 수집되는 것이다. 연구자는 수집된 오브제들과 사진들을 콜라주 형식과 바느질 행위의 수행적이고 은유적인 방법으로 작품을 표현해 나간다. 이는 작품이 단순하게 시각적으로 이해할 수 있는 장치들의 집합체가 아니라, 예술가가 행하는 행위에 따른 다양한 경험과 해석에 초점을 맞추기 위함이다. 다시 말해, 관람자에게 단순히 재현과 연구자가 규정한 의미전달이 아닌 스스로 체험하는 감각적 경험으로 확장하고자 하는 것이다. 작품들은 연구자가 체험하여 경험한 장소적 맥락의 이해에 따라, 전시장 내ㆍ외부 공간에 설치된다. 이러한 과정을 통해 전시장은 연구자가 설계한 또 다른 장소성을 부여받게 된다. 연구자는 작품을 통해 관람자가 지각을 활성화 할 수 있는 다채로운 체험을 제시하고, 관람자는 이미지와 장소에 담긴 이야기를 감각하고, 지각하여 공간에 대한 또 다른 의미와 기억을 생성함으로써 새로운 장소성을 생성하고 경험할 수 있도록 한다. 여기서, 새로운 장소성이란 관람자가 장소가 가진 불안정성과 가치중립성에서 벗어나, 삶의 현장이자 생활 공간임을 공감하게 함으로써 장소에 대한 새로운 인식을 만들어 주는 것이다. 본 논문은 2017년부터 2021년까지 연구자의 작품들을 바탕으로 다음과 같이 구성되어 있다. 제1장 서론에서는 연구자의 작품 연구 방향과 목적에 관해 서술하였다. 제2장 본론에서는 첫째, 삶의 지속 가능한 공간으로서의 장소성과 여성성이 드러나는 노동공간을 중심으로 작품의 형성배경을 밝히고 있다. 둘째, 수행성의 미학이 담긴 바느질 기법과 공간연출을 통한 장소 특정적 설치를 기반으로 작품의 표현방법을 알아보았다. 셋째, 본인의 작품 8점에 대하여 개별적인 제작방법과 작품 내용에 관하여 서술하였다. 제3장 결론에서는 본 논문의 내용을 정리하고 앞으로의 작업 방향을 모색하였다. |The surrounding objects and landscapes have been collected by researcher and also the researcher tries connecting them to specific memories. The objects of various types have been helped us remember those who used the objects in the past. In some cases, this means the creation of specific things to keep that person’s memory with us. The researcher would like to try analyzing and drawing out collected objects’s nature and shape. Human experience a variety of places which can activate perception. As people processing with perception, cognition, new memories and meanings are generated and accumulated from the places As a result, people feel intimate and a sense of attachment to the places and the perception and emotion of the places are combined to the place. The researcher's target place is where is making new changes from the past to the present or the present and also this place for a women's working space based on household chores such as cloth and clothing factories. Researcher has visited places several times to record their experience with places. Researchers' works are not merely reproductions. But researcher tried expressing personal and unique inspiration into works. they present new aesthetic experiences, not indicative images also imitate. The researcher chooses the collected objects and images by the symbolism of the place and the aesthetics of the form. Photographs of objects and places are selected as mediums to recall the memory of the scene instead of actual places by researchers. The researcher expresses the collected objects and photographs in a performance and metaphorical way in the form of sewing and collage. This is not just a collection that the work can understand visually, but to focus on various interpretations of what the artist does. In other words, this work aims to expand itself to sensory experiences to viewer not only just to reproduce or convey the meaning specified by the researcher. The works are installed in the inner and outer spaces of the exhibition hall. The viewers experienced the context of another place designed by the researcher. Researchers present various experiences that enable viewers to activate perception through works and allow viewers to create and experience new places with creating another meaning and memory of space. A new place is defined as that it is away from the value neutrality and unstable it just makes viewers sympathize with the place.

Based on researchers' works from 2017 to 2021, this paper consists of the following.

In Chapter 1 describes the direction and purpose of the researcher's work. In Chapter 2, The main story first reveals the background of the formation of the work, focusing on a working space where place and femininity are revealed as sustainable spaces ㅍof life. Second, we looked at sewing techniques containing performance aesthetics and how to express works based on location-specific installations through spatial production. Third, eight of works were described in terms of individual production methods and descriptions of works. In Chapter 3, Conclusion, we have summarized the contents of this paper and seeks future work directions.
