고등학교 교과서에 나타난 [춘향전]의 교육내용과 소규모 학습방안 연구

Abstract

고전 문학 중에서도 특히 <춘향전>은 우리가 너무나도 흔하게 접할 수 있는 작품 중의 하나다. 그만큼 많은 사람들에게 사랑을 받아 왔으며, 공감을 불러일으킨 작품이다. 고등학교 교과서에서도 1차 교육과정에서부터 6차 교육과정에 이르기까지 한 번도 빠짐없이 실려 춘향전을 교육해 오고 있다. 이러한 사실은 그만큼 춘향전이 문학 교육적 가치가 크다는 것을 반증하는 것으로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 그런데 실제 수업현장에서 학생들을 지도하다 보면 춘향전이라는 작품은 새로운 흥미 거리를 제공하는 작품으로서의 기능을 상실하고 있다. 이미 식상해버린 작품으로 취급되기 일쑤이며, 교사들 또한 춘향전 작품에 관한 많은 연구 성과들에도 불구하고 체계적이고 진취적인 학습보다는 자습서 내용이나 몇몇의 논문 내용을 단편적인 지식으로 소개하는 정도에 그치고 마는 경우가 허다하다. 고전 문학이 이처럼 경시되고 있는 이유는 지금까지 고전 작품에 대한 지도가 도덕적 교훈을 강조한 나머지 올바른 윤리적 가치를 고취시킨다는 목적 하에 주입식으로 교육되어 온 것과, 어렸을 때부터 많은 동화 작품들에서 작품의 본질적인 내용보다는 표면적이고 지엽적인 내용들이 확장되면서 고전 문학은 도덕, 윤리적인 것이라는 선입관이 작용하고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 도덕적 관념의 강조가 고전 작품을 고리타분하고 재미없는 작품으로 받아들여지게 하고 있는 것이다. 따라서 학생들은 고전 작품을 스스로 찾아 읽기보다는 시험이라는 의무감에서 혹은 교과서에 나와 있으니까 마지못해 학습에 참여하는 피동적인 자세로 수업에 참여하고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본고는 이렇게 따분하게 인식되고 있는 고전 작품을 어떻게 하면 좀더 흥미롭고 가치 있는 것으로 현대에 되살려서 교육할 수 있을까하는 고민을 하며, <춘향전>이라는 작품을 통해 이것을 살펴보려 한다. 국어 교과서와 문학 교과서에 실려 있는 <춘향전> 의 교재수록 현황을 살펴 중요한 학습 요소를 추출하고, 그에 따른 교수-학습 지도안을 작성하여 실제수업에 활용하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 학생들로 하여금 우리 문학에 보다 많은 관심을 갖게 하고 판소리계 소설에 나타난 미적 가치는 물론 언어의 지식과 활용에 있어서도 훌륭한 문화유산임을 확인할 수 있게 하고자 한다.|Among many classical literature works, Choon Hyang Jun, in particular, is the one we encounter the most. So many people love it, and many others feel sympathy for the story. In senior high textbooks, Choon Hyang Jun never failed to include itself from the 1st education process to the latest 6th education process. Such facts indicate that Choon Hyang Jun has a significant educational value in the field of literature. But, as you teach students in real-life, you can easily realize that Choon Hyang Jun has lost it's ability to bring in new interests as a piece of work. Too many have become sick of it, and most of the teachers are teaching students the same aspects and facts about the work over and over again, despite the fact that many new and different studies were made of it. The curriculum is not progressive nor systematic, just briefly introducing the most well known thesis, or just teaching by textbooks. Classic literature is treated lightly, because the moral lessons in classic literature were so greatly emphasized that it was "taught" before a student actually got to "choose" it and read it as literature by itself, thus making the students think that classic literature is something to be studied and memorized rather than to be read and enjoyed. Every other person may have different impressions and sentiments when reading a piece of work, but classic literature is being taught before the students actually get a chance to "feel" it. It's not considered as literature, just as something to be studied and memorized for exams. This thesis is about finding a method to change the "boring and dead" recognitions on classic literature and bring it back to "life" in this modern world, letting scholars feel new interest in this field. Choon Hyang Jun, the most popular and well known, is chosen as the specific work to find a way to make the resurrection possible. I extracted the essential teaching elements by surveying various Korean language and literature teaching materials, establishing teaching plans that could be applicable in the real-world classrooms. I strongly hope that I could contribute in bringing about new interests on classic literature, understanding the beauty of Pansori Novel, as well as realizing the value of classic literature as an important cultural heritage, showing us how language could be so beautifully carved and applied in literature.
