경찰공무원의 외상성 사건과 PTSD 증상 및 우울의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 경찰공무원이 경험하는 외상성 사건의 외상후 스트레스(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: PTSD) 증상 및 우울의 관계에 있어서 직무스트레스가 조절효과를 가지는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 소재의 경찰청에 근무하는 500명의 경찰공무원을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구에 사용된 척도는 외상성 사건척도(Traumatic Event), 사건충격척도 개정판(Impact of Event Scale-Revised: IES-R), 한국판 Beck 우울척도(Korean-Beck Dpression Inventory : BDI), 직무스트레스척도(Job Stress)이며 질문지를 통해 얻은 자료에 대해 상관분석, 중다 회귀분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 외상성 사건의 개수와 충격정도는 PTSD 증상 및 우울에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 특히 외상성 사건 개수보다 주관적인 충격정도가 더 큰 영향력을 보였다. 또한 외상성 사건과 PTSD 증상 및 우울의 관계에서 직무스트레스의 조절효과도 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.| This study attempted to investigate the relation of police officer′s traumatic events and Post traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) symptoms, depression and moderating effect of job stress. The Traumatic event scale, Impact of Event Scale-Revised(IES-R), Korean-Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and Job stress scale were administered to 500 police officers working in Gyeonggi-do. To detect the relation of Police officer′s traumatic events and Post traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) symptoms, depression and interaction effects, multiple regressions and hierarchical multiple regressions were run with obtained data.

Results indicated that experience of traumatic event events caused the PTSD symptoms and depression. Especially, subjective amount of shock of traumatic events were stronger predictor than the number of traumatic events in PTSD symptoms and depression. Result also revealed that there was moderating effect of job stress in relation of traumatic events and Post traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) symptoms, depression. Finally, implication and limitation of this study were discussed.
