<가족소설>의 시각에서 살펴본 『적과 흑』

Abstract

스탕달(Stendhal, 1783-1842)의 『적과 흑 Le Rouge et le noir』에 대한 기존연구의 다수는 행복을 논제로 하여 주인공 줄리앙의 사회적인 출세 지향적인 면에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 본 논문에서는 줄리앙이 추구하고 있는 행복의 실체를 ＜가족소설＞에 입각하여 분석 · 검토 하여 보고자한다. ?떳Ｆ? 로에르는 『적과 흑』을 존재하지 않는 것을 상상하는 ＜업둥이＞가 아니라 존재하는 것을 부인하는 ＜사생아＞적인 ＜가족소설＞로 분류하고 있다. 즉, 양쪽 부모를 모두 부정하는 업둥이와는 다르게 사생아는 외디푸스의 투쟁과 현실을 수락하며 아버지를 부정하고 어머니를 인정하여 아버지와 맞서 싸우게 된다. 이 이론을 근거로 하여 주인공 줄리앙이 부인하는 가족관계와 그가 속해 있는 사회와의 관계, 나아가 그가 꿈꾸는 가족을 이루기 위한 방법으로 택한 여인들과의 연애행각을 분석한다. 제Ⅰ부에서는 신체적인 병약함이나 지적인 면에서 형제들과 동화되지 못하고 본인 스스로가 한 가족의 일원임을 부정하려는, 즉 자신의 출생을 부인함으로서 정신적으로 아버지의 부재를 야기하는 주인공의 모습과 고독을 즐기는 그의 성향을 분석한다. 제2부에서는 수직적 상향을 위해 높이 오름을 좋아하는 줄리앙의 성향과 헌신적이고 희생적인 레날부인, 허영적이고 영웅주의에 빠져 있는 마띨드, 이 두 여인과의 사랑을 이용하여 계급적 상승을 꾀하나 결국, 레날부인에게서 자신의 본능적인 욕구였던 사랑, 즉 모성적인 시랑을 느끼는 줄리앙의 모습을 살펴본다. 제3부에서는 상승의지?? 관철하기 위해 위선으로 무장된 줄리앙의 사랑의 실체를 살펴봄으로써 작가가 줄리앙을 통해 구현해 보려던 것은 작가의 불운한 가정과 나폴레옹 신화의 시대에서 형성된 무의식의 망에 자리잡고 있는 숨은 욕망이 만든 가족소설이었음을 고찰한다. 결론적으로 우리는 줄리앙이 출세하기 위해 사회의 상층부로 올라가는 과정을 가족소설의 입장에서 자신이 처한 불행한 처지를 일변시켜 줄 수 있는 양(養)부모, 즉 자신에게 행운을 가져다 줄 이상적인 부모 찾기의 과정으로 보고 그 추구 과정에서 나타나는 그의 무의식의 표출 상태, 현실과 이상과의 갈등, 삶에 대한 새로운 인식 등을 추적할 수 있으며 줄리앙이 꿈꾸는 가족소설의 특징과 소설적 인물로서의 특이한 가치를 찾아 볼 수 있다. ＜가족소설＞은 황당무계한 이야기로 몽상에서 출발하게 되지만, ＜가족소설＞의 환상적인 무책임에서 시작되는 이야기는 보다 심오한 사실을 끌어내게 된다. 결국 환상의 끝에서 진실을 끌어내게 되며 이러한 황당무계한 이야기들은 깨어 있게 하는 이야기인 것이다. 우리는 『적과 흑』에서 ＜가족소설＞과 진정한 자아와의 관계를 분석함으로써 진솔함과 진실을 통해 얻게 되는 인간의 자아를 다시 확인하게 된다.|Most thesis papers describing Stendal's happiness is based on the novel, 'Le Rouge et noir', which is focusing on the Julien's social achievements of protagonist, not on happiness. This thesis would consider and analyze the entities of happiness which Julien was pursued on the side of the family novel. Marthe Robert described 'Le Rouge et le noir' as an abnormal family novel which denied not the imaginable founding by a fostered child but the entities of the illegimate child. Therefore, unlike the imaginable founding fostered child denying the both parents, the illegimate child would take the present and the conflict of Oedipus, recognize the mother and be against the father. Based on the aboved theory, this thesis will consider and analyze the relationships among the family that Julien denied, the society where he was involved and the beliefs on love based on his thoughts of his perfect womem and then build the ideal family with them. In the chapter Ⅰ of this thesis, is speculated the tendency which disapporved of the member of the family in terms of physical weakness and unharmony with his brothers in the intelligence. Disregarding the lineage which was caused by the absence of the father, mentally and tendency of being loneliness will be considered. In the chapter Ⅱ, is considered Julien's propensity that wanted to be in the higher social statue, Renal who was offering devoted and unconditional love, and Mathilde who was luxurious and heroic. To be raised in rank using two lovers, Julien found himself the instinct desire of love with Renal and realized that love could be like a mother's love. In the chapter Ⅲ of this thesis, is inspected the happiness that the writer intended based on the writer's unfortuanted family and unanimous desire. The myth consisted of Napoleon era unconsciously through Julien's entities of love to be achieved by the willingness of being the member of the high class which was consisted of fully conspiracy. Those facts made it the family novel. Consequently, to be the brilliant and distinguished person, Julien was searching the real parents to trnasit the position from low to upper class at the side of the fiction. The process of pursuing the ideal parents made one to discover the manifestation of unconsciousness, the conflict between real and ideal life and recognization of life. One could find the unique value by the way Julian's imagined how his perfect family seemed like and the characters in the novel. Even though most family novels would typically started with unrealistic and mourning lines, this would conduct and generate more recondite and profound facts than the fictitous and irresposible family novel. Consquently, unrealism would be conclued the truth at the end and these preposterous stories would turn into the influenced the real and conscious thoughts in our minds. In terms of analysing the relation between the family novel and ego in 'Le Rouge et noir', one might reconfirm the self of the human through frankness and the truth.
