A study Franz Liszt's four songs based on Victor Hugo's poems (focusing on th accompaniment)

This study is all about an analysis of four collections of Franz Liszt inspired by poem of Victor Hugo(1802-1885) focusing on the accompaniment.

Franz Liszt is one of the greatest hungarian composer and pianist who was notable Virtuoso composer throughout the whole Europe including Wien and Paris in his youth and influential musician having contributed to flourishing Romanticism music inspired by different artists whom he had met from the journey throughout his lifetime.

He composed six France collection by granting melody to poem of Victor Hugo who was great Romanticism poet and writer of France. The collection having lyrics of Victor Hugo is composed of 4 musics of " S'il est un charmant gazon", "Comment, disait-ils", "Oh! quand je dors " "Enfant, si jetais roi" whose themes are all about love.

This study is valuable enough to be studied because the second version of 4 collections which has full of lyric and romantic melody of vocal part has more perfect harmony with lyric of Victor Hugo than it's first version considering harmony with poetic word and music by removing many technical sides.

This study considered Franz List 's lifetime and his work of collections and their periodic features and so does Victor Hugo's.

The main part deals with analysis about the text of Hugo's poem and how the accompaniment is harmonized with melody and how Victor hugo's poem expressed in the accompaniment and melody

The purpose of this study is showing that how fully Liszt has understood the poet and he was greater composer of collections than we know.
