The Pocket

Abstract

기술(技術)의 발달과 현대인의 진보(進步)한 감성에 따른 다양한 욕구는 텍스타일(textile)의 적용 범위를 보다 다양한 방법으로 발전 시켜 나가고 있다 . 손에 쥐는 작은 물건 하나하나에서 부터 몸을 감싸는 것, 또는 그것을 둘러싸는 환경에 이르기까지 그야말로 거의 모든 범주(範疇)에서 사용된다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 이를 대처하기 위해서는 직물에 감성을 표현하고 고급화 시키는 텍스타일 디자인 개발에 대한 노력이 절실히 요구되는 상황이다. 이에 본 연구자는 생활 전반(全般)에 활용 할 수 있고 누구나가 공감할 수 있는 감성이 담긴 디자인을 하고 싶었다. 그리고 그것에 대한 답은 인간이 갖게 되는 자아의식(自我意識)에 대한 원초적인 물음에서 얻을 수 있었다. 모든 인간은 모태(母太)의 역사를 가지고 있다. 어머니의 자궁(子宮)이라는 작은 품에서 시작된 한 생명은 태어나고 자라면서 '나는 어디에서 시작되었을까' 라는 존재성에 대한 물음을 제기(提起)하게 된다. 인간 모두의 공통점은 첫 시작(始作)에 있는 것이다. 생명의 출발점은 어머니의 자궁- 그 작고 신비로운 '주머니'-가 아닐까 하는 생각에서 본 연구는 시작 되었다. 탄생과 성장, 과거와 현재, 주어진 미래에 있어 인간은 각자의 환경에 따라 다양한 모습으로 나타난다. 처음의 시작이 그러하듯 환경의 영향을 받아 생성되고 자라나 그 안에서 나름의 터전이나 가치관을 만들어가며 살아가게 된다. 이러한 터전이나 환경을 ‘둘러싸거나 감싸지는 의미’로 접근하여 ‘빛과 그림자’, ‘향기’, ‘나’의 세 가지 주제로 구성 하였다. 지구상의 모든 생명체에게 공평하게 주어지는 빛 그리고 그 산물인 그림자, 공기가 담고 있는 향기(香氣), 본인의 자아를 하나의 환경이자 ' Pocket'이라는 개념으로 해석하여 텍스타일 디자인으로 발전시켰다. 또한 그것을 응용한 제품을 만들고 공간을 연출해 보았다. 본 연구에서는 ‘Pocket’이라는 주제 하에 인간에게 주어진 환경이나 인간의 몸 자체를 감성적으로 해석하여, 시각적인 아름다움에 머물지 않는 따뜻한 감성이 담긴 텍스타일 디자인을 개발하고 상품으로의 전망과 마케팅 방법을 모색해 보고자 한다.|Diverse demands caused by constant development of technology and progressing emotions and expectation of people today have brought wide range of applicability in textile. Textiles are used in small objects that you hold in your hands to objects that covers your whole body, and even the environment surrounding the objects. It is not an overstatement when people say that textile is being used in all categories. As a person who designs textile for everyday objects, I wanted to design materials everyone can relate to. It has lead me to the very basic question which all human beings ask themselves. Which is the question of self-existence. Everyone's life begins in the mother's womb. Life starts in a small bosom called mother's womb and it grows and becomes an ego that asks one self the primitive question "Where do I come from"?. This is the basic question that, not only the writer, but all human beings ask in their search for self-consciousness. We share the beginning of the life. The basic theme for this research is based on the starting point of life which is a small and mysterious "pocket" called mother's womb. Birth and growth, past and present, and given future. Everyone is put into a different environment. Just as the beginning, we grow and are influenced by these factors and develop one's own values. I interpreted these environments and surroundings as "wrapping around or covering" and developed this ideas into three different themes. Light that is provided equally to every life on earth, its product Shadow, and Self-ego. I interpreted these as another environment and "pocket". I used these themes and developed them into textile design. Also, I adapted these ideas and developed them into a product or even a fixture. The goal of this project is to give emotional meaning to human environment and human body and use "pocket" to give it a symbolic representation and design to create textile that everyone can relate to. This doesn't mean just making designs that people fancy but textiles designs that move peoples feelings.
