S. Rachmaninoff 『Sonata for Cello and Piano in g minor, Op.19』에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 후기 낭만주의를 대표하는 러시아 작곡가 라흐마니노프의 『첼로와 피아노를 위한 소나타 Op.19』에 대한 연구이다. 본 작품은 라흐마니노프의 유일한 첼로 소나타로 4악장의 소나타 형식구조를 갖는다. 격렬하고 열정적인 성격의 1악장은 g minor의 조성이며, 느린 서주부를 시작으로 빠른 템포의 제시부, 발전부, 재현부, 코다로 구성된 소나타 알레그로 형식이다. 1악장에서 재현부에 제1주제가 생략되어 진 것이 형식상 중요한 특징이며 이러한 이유로 변형된 소나타 형식으로 분류하였다. 2악장은 1악장과 딸림조 관계인 c minor의 조성이며 스케르쪼 성격의 A-B-A 3부분 형식을 갖는다. A부분은 12/8박자로 계속되는 셋잇단음표 리듬을 특징으로 하며 B부분은 잠시 4/4박자가 진행되나 A부분에 이어 셋잇단음표가 계속된다. 느린 템포의 3악장은 2악장의 나란한조인 E♭major의 조성을 갖는다. 3악장에 나타나는 두 주제는 모두 피아노에 의해 주선율이 제시되는 것을 특징으로 하며 매우 서정적이고 우울한 선율들을 첼로가 받아서 노래한다. 2악장과 마찬가지로 3악장에서도 셋잇단음표의 리듬이 곡의 분위기를 주도한다. 4악장은 1악장의 같은 으뜸음조인 G major의 조성을 띄며 제시부, 발전부, 재현부, 코다의 구성을 갖춘 소나타 알레그로 형식이다. 4악장의 제1주제는♩³ ♪ 의 리듬형이 마치 붓점의 효과를 주어 활력있고 경쾌한 분위기를 자아낸다. 제2주제는 제1주제에 비해 느리고 긴 호흡의 선율선으로 시작되다 다시 빠른 템포로 진행된다. 라흐마니노프가 당대 최고의 피아니스트였던 만큼 본 작품은 피아니스트에게 비르투오소적인 기교와 음악성을 요구한다. 그 예로 마치 피아노를 위한 카덴짜를 연상시키는 부분이 1악장과 2악장에서 나타난다. 또한 콘체르토적인 요소를 발견할 수 있는데 이는 마치 피아노가 콘체르토 양식에서의 오케스트라 역할을 담당하듯이 첼로에 앞서 주제를 제시하기도 하며 곡의 전체적인 분위기를 이끌어가고 있다. 그러므로 본 연구자는 『첼로와 피아노를 위한 소나타 Op.19』의 전체적인 형식과 함께 피아노 성부가 갖는 특징들을 살펴봄으로써 연주자가 더욱 깊이 있고 실질적인 연주해석을 이끌어 내는 것에 도움이 되고자 한다.|This paper is studied on Sergei Rachmaninoff's(1873-1943) "Sonata for Cello and Piano in g minor, Op.19". He was a Russian composer and one of the great composers of the late Romantic period. This work is only Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata which has 4 movements. The first movement is passionate and is composed in g minor and is a Sonata allegro form which has a slow introduction, a fast exposition, a development, a recapitulation, and a coda. With the reason that the 1st theme of the first movement did not appear in a recapitulation, it is classified as the type of a alternated Sonata form. The second movement is in c minor Scherzo which has the dominant key of the first movement, and it is the 3 parts form (A-B-A). The slow third movement is in E♭major which is the relative key with the second movement. Two theme in the third movement are given a main melody all by piano and cello receives and plays melodies which are very lyrical and melancholic. In the third movement as same as the second movement, the triple eighth rhythm leads the musical atmosphere. The fourth movement is in g major, a tonic key of the first movement and it is Sonata allegro which has an exposition, a development, a recapitulation, and a coda. The rhythmic figure (♩³ ♪) in the first theme of the fourth movement gives vitality with the effects of brushstroke. Comparing with the 1st theme, the 2nd theme is started with the slow and long melodic line and it goes forward with a fast tempo again. For Rachmaninoff was the great pianist, this work is required virtuosic technique and subtle pianism. For instance, this work brings up cadenza for piano in the 1st movement and the 2nd movement. It has an element of concerto style. It is just like that a piano takes charge of the role of orchestra in concerto, the piano presents a theme previously to a cello and it induces the whole musical atmosphere also. I have studied about substantial analysis of this Sonata. As a pianist, I have really focused on observing this work, especially in the structure of piano part. And I believe it helps to produce a harmonious work of duet with cello.
