R. Schumann의 연가곡 여인의 사랑과 생애 (Frauenliebe und Leben) Op. 42에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 슈만(Robert Alexander Schumann; 1810?1856)의 대표적인 연가곡 <여인의 사랑과 생애(Frauenliebe und Leben)>Op.42에 관한 연구이다. 슈만은 슈베르트의 뒤를 잇는 가곡 작곡가로, 그는 그의 가곡에서 피아노의 위치를 성악과 진정한 동반자로 격상시켰다. 또한 그는 시문학에 이해가 깊었고 시의 내용을 충실하게 반영하여 가곡을 작곡 하였다. 슈만의 연가곡 <여인의 사랑과 생애>는 카미소의 아홉 편의 연시 중 여덟 편의 시를 선택하여 작곡한 것으로 여인의 사랑, 결혼, 출산, 미망인으로서의 여인의 생애를 섬세하게 만들어낸 작품이다. 슈만의 <여인의 사랑과 생애>를 분석하기에 앞서 우선 이론적 배경으로 슈만의 생애와 그의 가곡의 특징을 살펴보았다. 이 논문을 연구한 결과 첫째, 피아노 부분이 시와 밀접한 관계가 있다. 피아노의 선율이 곡의 분위기를 지속시켜 주며 시의 내용을 표현하는데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 형식의 자유로움이다. 전체에 사용된 형식은 2부 형식, 3부 형식을 많이 사용하였다. 셋째, 조성은 제 1곡부터 8곡까지 B♭장조-E♭장조-c단조-E♭장조-B♭장조-G장조-D장조-d단조의 순서로 이루어져 있다. 넷째, 풍부한 화성을 사용하였다. 연가곡 <여인의 사랑과 생애>의 작품을 분석을 함으로써 형식과 선율, 풍부한 화성, 리듬, 조성관계, 피아노 반주부등의 음악적 요소들의 결합으로 인해 예술가곡 작품으로 더 한층 발전시킨 것을 알아보았다.|During nineteenth century, lied became an artistic genre by German composer Franz Schubert, and following him, Robert Schumann raised the status of the piano to the true companion of the voice part. Schumann, a former pianist, took the expressional values from his piano works and put them into his lieder. Schumann also had profound understanding of poetry, and thus faithfully reflected the contents of the poems in his compositions. Frauenliebe und -leben(Woman's Love and Life) is Schumann's song cycle set to eight poems by Adalbert von Chamisso, which are about a woman's love, engagement, marriage, childbirth, and the loss of her husband. This thesis studies Schumann's life, musical talent, career, unique compositional techniques, and the characteristics of the his lieder according to the five periods of his life: the adolescent period(1810~1828), the Leipzig and Heidelberg period(1826~1830), the Leipzig period(1831~1844), the Dresden period(1845~1849), and the Düsseldorf period(1850~1856). Moreover, this thesis studies the artistic beauty of Frauenliebe und -leben through presenting the background of the work and analyzing the form, melody, rich harmony, rhythm, and tonal relations of the songs. The first conclusion of this study is that Frauenliebe und -leben is closely related to its text and can be divided into three stages: the woman's love in her youth(nos.1~3), her marriage and childbirth(nos.4~7), and her life as a widow(no.8). Secondly, it was found that most of the songs were in binary or ternary form. Thirdly, the keys of the songs from no.1 to no.8 are in the order of B♭Major - E♭Major - c minor - E♭Major - B♭Major - G Major - D Major - d minor. Finally, the prominent characteristic of the work is the shared role of the voice part and the accompaniment. The influence of Schumann on German lieder and the composers influenced by him were also studied in this thesis.
