R. Schumann의 성격소품(Character Piece)『Papillons Op.2』의 연구

Abstract

Schumann(Robert Schumann, 1801～1856) is the representative composer of Romanticism, and contributed to the development of character piece which is a piano music of Romanticism. Schumann was addicted to this genre, so most of his piano solo works composed between 1830 and 1840, except for 3 sonatas, were a character piece, and also composed a lot of superb works from small-scale works with general subject matter to large-scale works for musical performance. The biggest characteristic of his character piece is a link with literary works. Schumann had the talent for not only music but also literature, and poetic expression and lyricism about literature are well presented also in his character piece. He connected his literature in music intimately and creatively, interval between musical pieces in addition to the whole part of work, was exquisitely progressed with a link, and the atmosphere of each musical piece was presented with creative compositional technique. <Papillons Op. 2>, one of his works, was composed with being influenced by a novel of Jean Paul(Jean Paul Friedrich Richter, 1763~1825), <Flegeljare>, and this is a suite that the introduction and 12 relatively short musical pieces are bound with the title, ‘Papillons’. This work includes a musical piece describing a character in a novel of Jean Paul, and each musical piece from the first piece to the 12th piece are progressed with a intimate link with title. In addition, beat or composition gives an unification musically, and Schumann's creative techniques were used also in using melody, rhythm, and harmony. This is Schumann's early work, and well presents characteristics of his piano music. In this thesis, the author studied a link with literature in Schumann's character piece, and a characteristic of his piano music with centering on <Papillons Op. 2>.|슈만(Robert Schumann, 1810～1856)은 낭만주의 대표적 작곡가로 낭만주의 피아노 음악인 성격소품의 발달에 기여하였다. 1830년부터 1840년까지 작곡된 슈만의 피아노 독주곡 작품 중 소나타 3곡을 제외하고 거의 모든 작품이 성격 소품일 정도로 그는 이 장르를 애호하였고 또 일상적인 것을 소재로 한 소규모 작품에서부터 대규모의 연주용 작품까지 뛰어난 작품을 많이 작곡하였다. 그의 성격소품의 가장 큰 특징은 문학작품과의 연관성이다. 슈만은 음악 뿐 아니라 문학에도 재능을 갖추었고 시적 표현과 문학에 관한 서정성은 그의 성격소품에서도 잘 나타난다. 그는 문학을 음악에 긴밀하고 창조적으로 연관시켰으며 작품전체는 물론 악곡과 악곡사이가 연관성을 가지고 절묘하게 진행되었으며 각 악곡의 분위기 또한 창조적인 작곡기법으로 나타내었다. 그의 작품 중 <나비 Papillons Op. 2>는 장 파울(Jean Paul Friedrich Richter, 1763~1825)의 소설 <무분별의 시대 Flegeljare>에 영향을 받아 작곡되었는데 도입부와 비교적 짧은 길이를 가진 12개의 악곡으로 이루어진 모음곡이다. 이 작품은 장 파울의 소설에 나오는 인물을 묘사한 곡들을 포함하고 있으며 제 1곡에서 제 12곡까지 각 악곡들은 표제와 긴밀한 연관성을 가지고 진행되어 진다. 또한 음악적으로 박자나 조성이 통일감을 주고 있고 선율, 리듬 그리고 화성사용에 있어서도 슈만의 독창적인 기법들이 사용되었다. 이 작품은 슈만의 초기 피아노 작품으로 슈만의 피아노 음악의 특징들이 잘 나타나 있는 작품이다. 본 논문에서는 <나비 Papillons Op. 2>를 중심으로 슈만의 성격소품에 나타나는 문학과의 연관성과 슈만의 피아노 음악 특징을 연구하였다.
