Paul Verlaine의 동일 시를 소재로 한 G. U. Faure와 C. A. Debussy의 가곡 비교 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 폴 베를렌느 (Paul Verlaine 1844~1896)의 동일 시를 (Mandoline, Green을 중심으로 ) 소재로 한 가브리엘 위르뱅 포레 (Gabriel Urbain Faure 1845~1924)와 클로드 아실 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy 1862~1918) 가곡의비교 연구 조사서이다. 프랑스에서 가곡은 멜로디(Melodie)의 형태로 발전되었다. 100여 곡이 넘는 가곡을 작곡한 포레는 프랑스의 가곡을 시와 음악이 유기적으로 결합된 예술적 차원의 가곡으로 끌어올린 작곡가이다. 한편 드뷔시는 프랑스 가곡을 비롯한 서양 음악 전반에 있어, 후기 낭만과 근대를 현대 음악의 문으로 인도한 작곡가이다. 그는 80여 곡의 가곡을 작곡하였고, 가사 선택에 있어 엄격하기까지 했던 독일의 작곡가 볼프(H. Wolf)와 비교될 정도로 시와 음악의 신비스러운 조합을 이루어냈다. 이들 작곡가들은 동시대의 문학 흐름인 상징주의 시인들의 시를 소재로 하여 많은 곡을 썼는데, 그 대표적인 상징주의 시인으로는 폴 베를렌느가 있다. 본 논문에서는 많은 작곡가들에게 영감을 주어 주옥같은 가곡으로 탄생된 베를렌느의 여러 시 중, Mandoline 과 Green을 통해 포레와 드뷔시의 특징과 작곡기법이 연구되었다. 이를 위해, Mandoline 과 Green 각 시의 배경에 대한 조사와 곡의 분석이 진행되었다. 이 연구의 결과로 볼 때, 시를 전달하기 위해 두 작곡가가 공통적으로 사용한 idea는 시어의 음절에 따라 선율의 길이를 조절하는 것이다. [예)Serenade, Chanteuses 장음절에 긴 음가의 선율을 배치] 두 작곡가의 차이점으로, 포레는 곡의 전체적인 분위기를 나타내는 반주부와 서정적인 선율을 사용하는 등, 보수적인 틀을 깨지 않으면서도 화성의 늦은 해결과 반음계 진행 등을 통해 전통에서 확장된 화성을 보여 주었다. 반면 드뷔시는 다양한 패턴의 반주부와 낭송조의 노래 선율을 사용하여 시를 적극적으로 표현해 주었다. 또한 당연시 여겨지던 조성 중심의 기능적인 화성 대신, 개방현 아르페지오와 지속음, 병행화음 등의 전혀 새로운 시도를 통하여 가사에 따른 소리의 색채를 표현하는 것에 집중하려 하였다.|This is a research that deals with both common and difference between two art songs of Gabriel Urbain Faure (1844~1896) and Claude Achille Debussy (1862~1918) which have same poem of Paul Verlaine (1844~1896). French art song has been developed as a type of Melody. Faure, who had composed more than 100 art songs, is a composer who promoted art song that merges poem and music organically. Debussy is a composer who delivered post romantic music to modern one in whole field of western music including the art songs of france. He wrote about 80 art songs, and he has achieved mystific accordance between poem and music, which is able to be compared with famous german composer H. Wolf's. Both of them had composed many songs based on the poems of symbolism poets in contemporary age, specially Paul Verlaine. In this paper, feature and composing technique of both Faure and Debussy was researched through Mandoline and Green that are ones of Paul Verlaine's beautiful poems that inspire many famous composers. First, the background of each poems was investigated, and then analysis of songs was made progress. According to result of this paper, the common idea is that the close reaction of melodic rhythm to the syllable of poetic diction. In the point of difference, Faure has shown extended harmony, late solution of harmony, a chromatic scale progress and etc. but not broken frame of traditional conservation though he has used the accompaniment that expresses whole atmosphere of songs and lyrical melody. On the other side, Debussy has expressed the poem actively using the accompaniment of various pattern and harmony in recitative style. Also, he has tried to concentrate on expressing color of sound according to the word through new trials like an open string arpeggio, sustained note, parallel chords instead of extended triads based on functional harmony
