Abstract
본 논문은 Hugo Wolf(1860-1903)의 「이탈리아 가곡집(Italienisches Liederbuch)」을 연구한 것이다.
「이탈리아 가곡집」은 1860년 소설가 하이제(Paul Heyse, 1830-1914)에 의해 번역된 이탈리아 시들에 1890년 볼프가 곡을 붙인 46개의 가곡들이며 두 권의 책으로 이루어져 있다. 두 권의 가곡집은 내용이 서로 다른 시를 객관적으로 묘사하였으나 형식, 음악적 스타일 등에서 통일성을 보여준다.
이 중 5곡을 발췌하여 연구 분석 하였으며 발췌한 5곡은 제 1 곡 ‘Auch kleine Dinge(비록 작은 것이라도)’, 제 10 곡 ‘Du denkst mit einem f?dchen mich zu fangen(당신은 작은실처럼 나를 잡았다고 생각하나요)’, 제 31 곡 ‘Wie soll ich fr?hlich sein(내가 어찌 기쁠 수 있나요)’, 제 32 곡 ‘Was soll der Zorn, mein Schatz(그 분노는 무엇인가요, 나의 연인이여)’, 제 46 곡 ‘Ich hab' in Penna einen Liebsten wohnen(내 애인은 펜나에 살고 있어요)’이고 연구한 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 이탈리아 가곡집의 가곡들은 2연 혹은 3연의 짧은 시들로 구성되어 있다. 보통 1행과 3행, 2행과 4행 또는 1행과 2행, 3행과 4행과 같은 형식으로 각운이 맞춰져 있으며 반복이 없는 통절 형식이 주를 이루었다.
둘째, 화성적 선율, 반음계적 선율 등으로 곡의 분위기 뿐 아니라 감정표현을 효과적으로 나타내었으며 불협화음, 반음계, 갑작스런 전조로 곡의 분위기를 한층 더 살렸다.
셋째, 각 곡의 주된 리듬형의 반복으로 곡에 통일감을 형성해주고 당김음과 쉼표를 사용해 심리상태와 감정을 표현하였다. 또한 특정한 가사를 강조하기 위해 비교적 긴 박자를 사용하기도 하였다.
넷째, 피아노 반주부는 성악부와 다르게 진행되는 것 같아 보이지만 선율의 모방, 리듬의 공유 등으로 상호작용하며 곡이 진행되는 것을 알 수 있다.
위 연구 분석된 5곡은 사랑과 그로 인한 기쁨, 분노 등에 관한 소재로 작곡된 곡들이며 「이탈리아 가곡집」은 볼프의 대표적 가곡집 중 하나로 독일 예술가곡의 아름다운 시, 멜로디가 잘 표현되도록 쓰인 가곡집이다.| This paper presents a study on the work of Hugo Wolf (1860-1903), .
, is composed of two books and contains 46 Italian poems that Wolf set to music, which were translated by a novelist, Paul Heyse (1830-1914). Two collections of songs objectively describe different poems but both work display consistency in their format and style of music.
Out of the collections, five songs selected for study and analysis are No.1 ‘Auch kleine Dinge’, No.10 ‘Du denkst mit einem f?dchen mich zu fangen’, No.31 ‘Wie soll ich fr?hlich sein’, No.32 ‘Was soll der Zorn, mein Schatz’ and No.46 ‘Ich hab' in Penna einen Liebsten wohnen’. The result of the analysis is as below:
First, Italian collections of songs are composed of short poems with 2 to 3 stanzas. Normally, line 1 and 3, 2 and 4, or 1 and 2, 3 and 4 follow same format and rhyme lines. Through-composed form, which is a non-repetitive form, was mainly used in songs.
Second, harmonic melodies and chromatic tunes effectively deliver not only the ambience of a song but also emotional expression. Dissonance, chromatic scale, and sudden modulation heighten the atmosphere of the music.
Third, repetitive main rhythm of each song keeps consistency throughout a song, as syncopation and rest are used to describe mentality and emotions. Also, long rhythm is used to emphasize a certain lyric.
Fourth, although piano accompaniment and vocal part seems to follow a different format, both parts interact with each other by using imitated melody, and sharing same rhythm.
Five songs analyzed and researched throughout the paper are motivated from love and emotions inspired by love, such as joy and rage. As one of Wolf’s major collections of songs, successfully delivers beautiful poems and melodies of German art songs.
