Françis Poulenc의 『La courte paille』연구

Abstract

20세기 프랑스 현대 음악의 대표적 작곡가이며 피아니스트이고, 프랑스 예술가곡에 있어 Faure, Debussy, Ravel 이후의 최고의 작곡가로 평가 받고 있는 Francis Poulenc은 프랑스 ‘6인조’(Les Six) 의 일원으로 활동하였고, 6 인조가 해체된 후에는 Stravinsky의 영향을 받아 신고전주의 음악 (Neoclassical music)1)을 지지하였다. Poulenc의 성악곡의 특징은 규격화된 리듬이나 형식보다 자연스러운 표현 만을 중요시하는 초현실주의 시인의 작품에 곡을 붙인 작품들이 대부분이 다. 본 논문의 주제인『La courte paille』는 벨기에 출신의 초현실주의를 지 향한 시인 Maurice Careme에 의해 써진 각각 두 권의 시집에서 발췌한 7 개의 시에 붙여진 곡으로, 그의 오페라에 출연했던 소프라노 Denise Duval 의 여섯 살 된 아들을 위하여 작곡 되었다. 본 연구에서는 작곡가인 Poulenc의 생애와 시기별 작품의 경향과 가곡의 특징을 알아보고, 시인 Careme의 시를 이해 하고자, 그의 생애와 그의 작 품, 그리고 그가 지향한 초현실주의에 대해 살펴본 다음, 악곡 분석에서는 작품 구성 및 내용(시의 구조와 번역), 악곡의 형식, 박자, 조성, 빠르기, 리 듬, 반주형태, 선율의 흐름 등을 분석 하여 Poulenc이 어떻게 그의 음악에 초현실주의를 반영하였는지를 이해하며, 나아가 성악인들이 이 곡을 연주시 에 실질적인 해석의 도움을 주고자 하였다.|Francis Poulenc is considered as an important composer in 20th century French music who success Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, and Maurice Ravel. He was also a member of "Les Six", and later was influenced by Igor Stravinsky and Neoclassicism. Poulenc's vocal repertories are distinguished from other composer's because the way he reflected surrealistic poems to his music was very unique and effective. The poems of『La courte paille』are written by Belgian surrealistic poet Maurice Carême. Poulenc excerpted seven poems from two different Carême's poetries. This song cycle is composed for six-years old son of the soprano Denise Duval who sang in Poulenc's opera. The intention of this study is to explore the relationship between Poulenc's music and the poem and how he reflected the poem to music. So the study of Poulenc and Carême's bibliography and characteristic styles are presented. Poetic analysis, form analysis and harmonic analysis were also showed in order to see the connection between music and the poem. Furthermore, the ultimate goal of this study is to guide singers to understand and interpretate well this charming songs.
