Cesar Auguste Franck의「Prelude, Choral et Fugue」 연구

Abstract

세자르 프랑크(Cesar Auguste Franck; 1822-1890)는 벨기에 태생의 프랑스 작곡가로, 19세기 후기 낭만주의 시대에 활약했던 오르가니스트 겸작곡가이다. 당시 프랑스에서는 이탈리아의 오페라와 독일의 기악음악이성행하여 전통적인 형식을 기반으로 한 기악음악이 주목받지 못했다 이러한 현상에 대한 경각심으로 프랑크는 프랑스 순수 기악음악의 발전에 큰 공헌을 하였다. 프랑크의 작곡 시기는 3시기로 구분되는데, <프렐류드, 코랄과 푸가>는 제 3기에 쓰여진 작품으로 그의 대표작 중 하나이다. 이 작품은 바로크적인 특성과 낭만주의적인 특성을 함께 갖추고 있으며, <프렐류드>,<코랄>, <푸가>의 각 부분이 유기적인 관계를 이루는 순환형식이 두드러 진다 <프렐류드>는 대조되는 2개의 주제로 구성되어 있으며, <코랄>은<프렐류드>와 <푸가) 사이의 연결구적인 역할을 한다. <푸가＞는 작품의 절반을 차지할 정도의 대규모로 구성된 4성부 푸가이며, 제시부, 발전부, 종결부의 3부분으로 구성된다. <푸가＞에서는 간결하고 짜임새 있는 제시부를 거쳐 주제를 복잡하게 엮어나가는 발전부가 전개되고, 카덴차풍의 자유로운 종결부에서는 <프렐류드>, <코랄>, <푸가＞의 모든 요소들을 사용한다. 이 작품은 J.S.바흐(Johann Sebastian Bach; 1685-1750)의 <평균율 클라비어곡집> 제 1권의 24번 BWY 869의 전주곡과 푸가 b단조에서 영감을 얻었으며, 바로크적인 틀 안에 불규칙적인 프레이즈, 리듬의 자유로움과 융통성, 불협화음과 비화성음의 빈번한 사용, 조성의 확장 등의 후기 낭만주의적인 요소를 가미하여 프랑크만의 독자적이며 개성적인 음악으로 표현되었기 때문에 피아노 음악사에 있어 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다.|This thesis is concentrated on Prelude, Choral et Fugue composed by Cesar Auguste Franck(1822-1890). Franck was a French composer born in Belgium. He was a organist and a composer who played an active part in the late 19th century of Romantic. In those days, Italian opera and German instrumental music was prevalent in France. Therefore, the instrument music based on the traditional form couldn't come into the spotlight. With a critical mind to that trend, Franck made a great contribution to the growth of instrumental music in the late 19th century of Romantic in France. The Franck's composition period is divided into three periods. Prelude, Choral et Fugue is a work composed in the third period, and is one of his masterpieces. This work has both Baroque and Romantic characteristics. Its prominent use of cyclic form makes organic relation among each part of Prelude, Choral and Fugue. Prelude is composed of contrasting two theme and Choral connects Prelude and Fugue. Fugue is a large scale four-part fugue and occupies a half of the work. It is composed of exposition, development, closing section. The work starts with the compact exposition, proceeds to the development to weave complex themes and come to an end with a cadenza style closing section that uses all the elements of Prelude, Choral and Fugue. This work was written with inspiration from the Prelude and Fuguein b minor of the J.S. Bach's fhe Weff fempered CfDuier BK.I It is Franck's contribution to add Romantic elements such as irregular phrase, unconventionality and flexibility of rhythm, frequent usage ofa dissonance and non harmonic tones, and extension of tonality to the Baroque formality. In conclusion, it has a very valuable position in the piano musical history with unique combination of Baroque formality and Romantic idiom.
