A Study on the Protocol of Yoga Slacks with 3D Body Scanning Analysis and Movement Assessment
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to comprehend patterns to make functional yoga slacks. Yoga slacks are significant to have functional aspect and acceptability of body motion because the slacks are tight. Tight clothes are extremely influenced by movement of body surface. And the slacks wearer feels comfortable or uncomfortable by the direction of pattern lines. It means the significance of making pattern line against body movement.
The study needs to recognize the change of human body surface on movement. 3D body scan system is used to collect data of body shape and figure out the areas of body surface which are divided by standard points.
The subjects of study are mid-aged women between 45 and 54 years old having done yoga and the body size of the women are based on the 6th korean standard body size.
A woman is selected to collect 3D body scan data, whose body size is almost close to the 6th korean standard body size. The woman performs a standing pose and four fundamental yoga poses while scanning whole body by 3D body scanner. For the work of dividing body surface, stickers are attached to the standard point on body surface, which helps to split into vertical and horizontal. 3D scanned body shape reversed to the data can be worked. The areas of 3D scanned body surface are calculated to analyze the change of increase and decrease in terms of yoga poses. Some ares of the body surface are increased and Some parts of it are decreased and some parts of it are not changed. The change of areas is shown by visible graph to find the parts of protocol parts and each areas are flatted to analyze the change of shape and area. Flat 3D data is close to common clothing pattern. Each flat 3D data overlapped on standing pose pattern. The protocol of patterns means that the area is not concerned by body movement and the areas suggest making pattern lines freely.
The poses of study are called back bending, Ukatasana pose, side bending and triangle pose with standing common pose. Commonly each pose affects on the change of body areas. The yoga poses are used to analyze the areas of body surface.
The pattern protocol areas are proven to make a new yoga slacks. The process to make excellent yoga slacks is as follows.
First, the fundamental pattern is selected by dress evaluation of four branded slacks. Second, the slacks is made to edit pattern line in protocol areas. And movement assessment is conducted with four branded slacks and the experimental slacks The result of movement assessment is used to modify experimental slacks pattern. Third, the experimental slacks is developed to understand a brand slacks which is proven on the best of four. the waist and the side line of the selected brand slacks are considered to perfect the experimental slacks which would be well appreciated. It is suggested that the functional pattern in pattern protocol areas is effective So using protocol pattern is the way to satisfy freely pattern making in limited areas.
The selected four yoga slacks are made again by same fabric to keep same condition without pattern. The fabric would be used to make the experimental slacks.
The 3D body scanning system with yoga movement would result in different pattern protocol each. According to the result of bending pose, the front waist areas in front and side parts increased and the back pelvic areas in side parts are changed largely. The areas not having the change of body surface are belly, crotch, thigh areas in front part. According to Ukatasana pose, side pelvic and thigh areas in front parts and mid waist, mid pelvic, side thigh in back parts are changed largely. But side upper calf, below calf in front parts are changed little. According to side bending pose at the right body, pelvic area in front parts only increased. Crotch areas , inside thigh areas in front part, inside hip area in back pars are changed little. The change of side bending pose at the left side body is greater than the change of the pose at the right side body. The change of triangle pose at the right side body extremely greater than the change of the pose at the left side body. Crotch areas, thigh areas and inside upper calf in front part, side waist, pelvic, crotch, thigh areas in back part are changed largely. But waist areas, inside pelvic, outside calf in front part, upper calf areas in back part are changed little. The change of triangle pose at the right side body is greater that the change of the pose at the left side body. According to triangle pose at the left side body, outside waist area in front part, outside waist, outside pelvic, outside crotch, whole thigh area in back part are changed largely. But outside crotch, mid crotch, upper calf areas in front part, inside pelvic, mid crotch, upper calf in back part are changed little.
The pattern protocol means the areas of the little change on the body surface. The result of pattern protocol is mid pelvic, inside below calf, outside pelvic, outside thigh areas in front body and outside crotch, outside thigh, outside calf areas in back part. The selected protocol areas means the zone to change pattern line freely depending on pattern makers or designers in process.
The result of movement assessment of experimental and selected slacks, total five clothes is as follows. The best slacks of them at movement assessment generally experienced slacks A which means its functional aspect and acceptability of body motion is superior. Especially waist line is high and the circumference of crotch is enough to move. And having no side lines of legs improve movement of legs and tight feeling on body surface. So the superior factors of slacks A are reflected when the final experimental slacks were made.
The study suggests the concrete data to make the developed functional yoga slacks and to investigate pattern protocol areas thorough movement assessment. Mid-aged women will recognize the change of body surface area by 3D body scanning method and the market of yoga sportswear at fashion industry will be expanded through active studies.
