Recently, with the improvement of the quality of life, people’s living pattern has been variously developed. So, many people are pursuing more active and effective way even for the beauty care. Especially, people who have pigmentation lesion or troubled skin, and want to have aggressive and effective medical treatment from skincare shop inside of hospital or clinic have been increased.

Therefore, the purpose of this research is to help the development of the skin care program in the medical esthetic with deduction of the result that IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Bi-Polar R.F treatment thereafter would be effective for pigmentation lesion treatment and the improvement of skin condition.

Among 20 women who are thirties and forties, and the clients of the medical esthetic in the “L” clinic living in An-Sung, Kyung-Gi Do, the faces of experimental group of 10 were treated by IPL first, then Bi-Polar R.F treatment in a week for 3 weeks, once a week, 20 minutes each, and for the controlled group of 10 were treated by only IPL once. Sebum level, moisture, pores, pigmentation and irregularity of candidates were checked by CC-205 from ‘Cos Cam’ before and after the experiment for the both groups, then after finishing the experiment, the change of skin condition was compared and analyzed. And also, the evaluation committee of 4 doctors and beauty therapists evaluated the improvement of pigmentation to 5 phases.

Analyzing the collected data has been done by the computerized statistic program, SPSS (ver13.0), and then for the approval of hypothesis, was used. The result of this research is as follows:

First, the commonality was verified between both groups because there wasn’t any significant difference after the (x²) and t-test to prove the general characteristics and the homogeneity of skin condition before the test.

Second, as for the comparison of moisture, it was found that the first experimental group had much better effects at increasing of moisture and sebum level than the controlled group (p<0.05). The experimental group showed the significant difference at pigmentation (p<0.001), pores (p<0.01), irregularity (p<0.01) and keratin (p< 0.001) before and after the experiment. Also, the controlled group, showed a significant difference at pigmentation (p<0.001), pores (p<0.05), irregularity (p<0.05), keratin (p<0.05) before and after the experiment. For the comparison of the change of skin condition between both groups, there was a significant difference at pigmentation (p<0.001), irregularity (p<0.05), keratin (p<0.05). So, for the decrease of pigmentation, skin irregularity and keratin, the experiment group had much better effects than the controlled group.

Third, for the comparison of candidate’s satisfaction measurement, it showed the significant difference for all parts. Especially, for introducing the facial treatment to others (p<0.01), the condition of pores (p<0.01), the softening of skin (p<0.01) and the improvement of pigmentation (p<0.01) showed more significant difference than the satisfaction of skin condition (p<0.05), an intention of continuing facial treatment (p<0.05), moisturizing of the skin (p<0.05), and the good absorption of the make-up (p<0.05).

Forth, the improvement of skin condition and the stimulation of the skin showed a significant difference at the timing of the improvement of pigmentation (p<0.05), the satisfaction measurement of the skin condition (p<0.05). Especially, for the timing of the improvement of pigmentation, among the experimental group, 4 people (40%) answered that it was 7days after the treatment, 4 people (40%) answered 10 days after, 2 people answered that it was 14 days after the treatment. On the other hand,
Among the controlled group, 3 people (30%) answered that it was 10days after the treatment, 7 people (70%) answered that it was 14days after the treatment. As a result, the time period of the improvement of skin condition of the experimental group was shorter than the controlled group’s.

Fifth, for the satisfaction measurement, the experimental group showed high satisfaction because 7 people (70%) answered “Good”, but in the controlled group only 4 people answered “Good”.

Sixth, for the comparison of the evaluation of doctors and beauty therapists and a subjective satisfaction measurement of candidates, it showed a significant difference for all the parts. From the evaluation of the doctors, the experimental group was high because it has showed 4.50 and the controlled group has showed 4.00. And, the evaluation of the beauty therapists (BT) was BT1 (p<0.01), BT2 (p<0.01), BT3 (p<0.001), so, the experimental group was higher than the controlled group. For the subjective satisfaction measurement (p< 0.05), the experimental group showed higher satisfaction than the controlled group. It was 4.10 points for the experimental group and 3.40 points for the controlled group.

From the above results, it was verified that the treatment of the Bi-Polar RF after the IPL helped to improve the pigmentation and was very effective for the change of skin condition. But, there were some limitations like small number of candidates of 20 people and the limited age of 30∼40 year old, and also, the personal difference of stress, the living habits, exercise habits, facial treatment habits and cosmetic products were not controlled, and the period of experiment was short. So, in the future, the deep research which is restricted those limitations should be accomplished.
