19세기 조선 자수병풍의 소재 및 색채를 모티브로 한 한국풍의 문양작성 연구

Abstract

유럽에서는 17세기 이후 차를 중국의 자기 잔에 마신다는 것이 부의 상징이 되면서, 중국의 자기에 대한 높은 선호 현상이 나타나게 되었다. 이를 계기로 중국풍의 장식 예술, Chinoiserie가 18세기 유럽에서 유행하게 되고, 이어서 19세기에는 일본풍의 Japonism (japonaiserie)이 장식 예술로써 양식화되고 이것 역시 대유행을 하게 된다. 이러한 17세기 동·서교류의 상징적 사건이자 유럽인들이 동경하는 아시아 문화의 실체가 구체적으로 인식되고 있는 것에 있어서 양식의 정립과 그것을 지칭할 수 있는 용어의 존재가 매우 중요한 요소였다고 생각한다. 이를 바탕으로 생각해 보면 한국적 문화 유형의 실체와 그것을 표현할 수 있는 용어는 우리 고유의 장식에 대한 정체성 설정에 있어서 반드시 필요한 요소일 것이다. 본 연구에서는 18세기의 Chinoiserie와 같이 장식 예술의 한 부분으로써 양식화된 한국풍의 존재에 대한 가정을 위해 그 양식풍의 명칭을 'Corée Déco'로 설정하였다. 이를 전제로 하여 도자 장식에 적용 가능한 기존의 한국풍과는 다른 신한국풍의 문양을 Corée Déco풍의 기준과 제작방법을 통해 제시하고자 하였다. 구체적인 방법으로는 19세기 조선의 자수병풍에서 보여지는 화제(畵題)를 중심으로 각각의 스토리와 표현내용을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 바탕으로 화제의 활용방법에 따른 문양 작성 방법을 제시하였으며 도자장식의 문양으로써의 활용방법을 모색하였다. 실제 도자 문양의 표현과정에 있어서는 색채 중화 실험에 의한 색상제작과 색의 배치 및 조합 수의 제한에 따른 양식화된 특정색상을 제시함으로써 Corée Déco 도자 장식의 기준으로 삼고자하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 과거의 전통적인 도자 장식의 양식을 응용하여 문양을 활용하는 방법과 제작자의 주관적인 감성에 문양을 활용하는 두 가지 방법을 통해 양식화된 도자장식을 테이블웨어와 실내용품에 적용하여 제작하였다. 이와같은 과정을 통해 조선의 대표적인 장식 예술인 자수병풍에서 보이는 한국적 요소의 재구성과 조합 및 변형을 통해 새로운 한국풍인 Corée Déco풍의 도자장식 표현방법을 제시하고자 하였다.| In Europe, drinking tea in Chinese porcelain became a symbol of wealth from the 17th century, meaning that Chinese porcelain was in high demand. This trend created a new phenomenon where Chinese decorative art 'Chinoiserie' developed in Europe culture in the 18th century. Furthermore, the Japanese decorative art 'Japonism(Japonaiserie)' was also in great demand in Europe and America, following the rise of Chinoiseire. I believe that establishing these styles and terms to refer to them have significantly helped to concretely recognize the event of the East-West exchange in the 17th century and the identity of Asian culture that Europeans admired. Like 'Chinoiserie' and 'Japonism(Japonaiserie)', I am of the mind of that Korean-style decorative art should develop its own artistic characteristics as well as understandable language for the stylization of the Korean authenticity. In this study, I created a new definition for the Korean aesthetic named 'Corée Déco' for a stylization of the Korean decorative art to present the criterion for the pattern creation of the Corée Déco-style ceramics. In order to establish Corée Déco specific standards were presented through transformation and reinterpretation using the motifs, contents, and colours of the embroidered folding screens of the 19th century. Specifically, the works were produced through investigating the subjects in three categories and neutralized colour impression of traditional embroidered folding screens in the 19th century. Based on this, I developed three specific standards for the patterns in the Corée Déco-style ceramics. In addition, the objective data of neutralized colours through experiments with underglazes and using a limited number of colour compositions were used for designing the new colour palette for Corée Déco. The production of works studied in this dissertation can be divided into two sections. One is a group of pieces that reinterpret a traditional Chinese ceramic decoration style and apply the Corée Déco-style patterns and colours to them. The other is a group of pieces that are about the creator's own formative perspectives. The tablewares and the interior items were created by applying the Corée Déco style in the ceramics throughout this study.
