일제강점기 초등 ‘국사’ 교과서에서 ‘한국 강점 과정’ 서술 변화와 특징

Abstract

본고의 목적은 일제강점기 제1차 조선교육령 시기로부터 제4차 조선교육령 시기에 사용된 초등 ‘국사’ 교과서 7종의 한국 강점 과정에 대한 내용을 분석하여 각 시기별 변화와 특질을 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 일제강점기 역사교육과정과 편찬된 역사교과서의 종류를 살펴보고, 한국 강점 과정을 개항을 전후한 시기, 대한제국 성립, ‘한국병합’의 세 가지 주제로 구분하여 각 교과서에 서술된 내용을 분석하였다. 제1차 조선교육령 시기 역사교육과정에서는 한국인 학생을 위한 보통학교에서 ‘역사’ 과목이 보이지 않는다. 소위 ‘문화통치’로 전환한 3․1운동 직후 편찬된 교과서와 제2차 조선교육령 시기의 교과서에서는 한국사 관련 내용이 일본사 속에서 보충적으로 서술되는 형식을 띠며 일제 강점에 저항한 소재도 그들의 관점에서 서술하고 있는 특징이 있다. ‘내선일체’가 강화되는 제3차 조선교육령 시기와 ‘황국신민화’ 교육이 강화되는 제4차 조선교육령 시기에는 ‘순진법’ 대신 ‘순환법’적내용 조직을 구성하였고, ‘내선일체’의 관념이 강조되면서 교과서에서의 한국 강점 과정의 서술도 점차 ‘한국의 수동성’, ‘식민체제의 정당성과 필연성’을 강조하도록 변화되어 갔다.

The Purpose of this article is to review the Seven different kinds of the history textbooks used from the first to the forth Chosen Dynasty Educational Ordinance during the Japanese Colonial Period by analyzing the distinctive changes. To this end, history curriculum and history textbook during this period will be studied. The theme about the process of Japanese colonial ruling is devided into three part in the textbooks: Before and after the opening of the time, the Korean Empire, 'Marge the Korean Empire' There is no 'History subject' in the elementary school for Korean students in the first Chosun Dynasty Educational Ordinance. The contents of the textbooks published after 3․1 Movement and in the second Chosun Dynasty Educational Ordinance descrive Korean history additionally to the Japanese history. The textbooks used 'the cyclic timing' in the third and forth Chosun Dynasty Educational Ordinance. During this period, Emperor Country's Subject Policy (皇國臣民化) and Japan-Chosun Unity(內鮮一體) was highlighted. Along this, the descriptin of the process on Japanese occupation is changed to strengthen the passivity for Korean and justifying Japanese Imperialism.
