손자녀 대리양육 지원에 대한 조모의 요구

Abstract

본 연구는 다양한 가족 지원 정책의 방향을 모색하고자 심층면담을 통해 조모의 손자녀 대리양육의 어려움과 요구를 분석하였다. 우선, 손자녀를 대리 양육함에 있어 조모가 겪는 어려움은 개인 생활과 시간적 자유 상실, 체력적 한계, 대리 양육자가 갖는 정서적 소외, 자녀 세대와의 갈등 등으로 나타났다. 조모를 위한 지원은 다양한 시각에서의 배려가 있어야 하며, 양육 및 가족 지원 정책은 시설에 대한 지원과 공존하는, 포괄적이고 다각적인 접근이 필요하다. 육아 휴직 등 제반 여건의 개선과 더불어 ‘손자녀 대리양육을 매개로 한 변형 확대 가족’을 양육 지원의 새로운 가능성으로 모색해 볼 수 있을 것이다.

The number of grandparents who have responsibility for raising their grandchildren is growing. This study seeks to understand the grandmothers' needs about parenting their grandchildren. The following questions were set up for this study. 1. What is the difficulties about grandmothers' surrogate parenting their grandchildren? 2. What is the grandmothers' needs about surrogate parenting their grandchildren? Twelve grandmothers were individually interviewed. The contents of the interviews were transcribed and collected cases were encoded and classified into appropriate categories. The following results were obtained from the study. First, grandmothers have much difficulties because of the lost of their spare time, exhaustion, alienation, and the conflict between family members. Second, grandmothers demand complex-facilities, educational information, community network, and economical support. The study's limitations are discussed and suggestions made for further studies.
