Problems and Tasks on The Reform of The Secondary Education Systems for Realization of Lifelong Learning Society
Abstract
이 연구에서는 새로운 평생학습시대에 적합한 중등교육의 실현을 위해서 요청되는 중등교육 개혁의 과제를 탐색해 보고자 한다.
The study is conducted for the purposes of suggestion the prescriptions for the secondary education, in the context of the lifelong learning, which is becoming, in 21st century, one of the major themes in the development and administration of the education systems. The study reexamines the existing systems of education in Korea and the trends in advanced countries in the reformation of the secondary education process in line with the lifelong education objectives. On the basis of these studies, following suggestions are made for the development of the secondary education systems as an integral part of the lifelong education process. First, the education systems should be remodeled so as to meet the versatility of the student needs reflecting the complexity of the society; Second, the benefit of educational credit bank and distance education should be extended to youth population; Third, in the employment market, both governmental and private, customary over emphasis of academic credentials should be rectified. Lifelong learning is essential for everyone in 21st century and has to be made accessible to everybody. And the overall social support is essential for the success of lifelong education oriented reforms of the secondary education systems.
