사회문화 의사소통능력과 연관된 코드 스위칭의 활용연구 - 복수적 관점의 소설을 중심으로 -이주배경학생을 위한 한국 문화 교육 방안 - 초등학교 사회과 교과목을 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 연구는 소설 기반 영어 말하기 활동에서 사회문화적 규범과 개념이 반영된 사회어문화적 의사소통 능력과 코드 스위칭의 기능에 대한 활용과 학습자들의 인식에 대해 조사하였다. 연구 수업에는 15명의 참가자가 참여하였으며, 다양한 독후 말하기 활동을 통해 사회문화적 의사소통능력(sociocultural communicative competence)이 실제적인 의사소통 능력이 어떻게 반영되는지 알기 위해서 혼합연구 방법(다각화 자료 검증 및5점 리커트 척도 설문조사)으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 참가자들은 언어 사용의 적절성, 특히 언어 정체성, 사회에서의 화자의 역할 및 계층적 관계 요인이 반영된 화법 사용과 언어사용역의 활용에 대한 인식이 향상되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히, 이러한 특징은 실제적인 의사소통 맥락에서 다양한 사회문화언어 사용을 시험해 볼 수 있는 역할극 활동에서 다양한 요인에 영향을 미치는 것이 관측되었다. 본 연구는 EFL 환경에서 사회문화적 의사소통 능력의 교수 및 학습에 실질적으로 적용될 수 있는 교육적 제언을 하였다.

This study examines the role of sociocultural communicative competence and code-switching in integrating sociocultural norms and concepts into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) speaking activities through novel-based tasks. Fifteen participants participated in the study, which employed a mixed-methods approach combining triangulated qualitative data and a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire for quantitative analysis. These methods aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how sociocultural competence can be developed through post-reading activities designed to enhance authentic communicative skills. The findings demonstrate that participants gained awareness of appropriate language use, including tone shifts and stylistic adjustments, particularly in adapting speech styles to reflect identity, social roles, and hierarchical relationships. This competence was most evident in role-play tasks, where practical communicative settings encouraged authentic and varied register use. The study concludes with practical pedagogical recommendations to further enhance the teaching and learning of sociocultural communicative competence in EFL contexts.
