식민치하 지역어 지식인의 타자에 대한 양가적 감정의 토대연구 -바르뗀두의 친영감정과 반영감정이 나타나는 1861년부터 1884년까지의 문헌 정리-

Abstract

본 연구는 식민치하 거대 타자에 대한 지역어 지식인이 가졌던 양가적 감정을 살펴보기 위한 토대연구이다. 힌디어문인은 영국 식민통치와 인도 피식민 상황의 중심에 서있었고 중세에서 근대로 넘어가는 시점에 새것과 낡은 것을 구별하고 개선하는 경주를 하였다. 중세의 탈속·전통·봉건 중신의 사고방식에 대한 재인식과 새롭게 등장하는 민족과 국가와 개인에 대한 새로운 의식의 형성을 주도했다. 역사의 변환기에 신지식인은 민족정체성과 국가정체성에 대해 다면적인 특성을 지닌다. 복합적인 정체성의 이해를 위해 거대 타자에 대한 복합적인 감정을 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 19세기 중엽 인도 서북부 지역의 대표적인 문인 바르뗀두 하리슈짠드러의 거대 타자인 영국 식민통치자에 대한 양가적 감정을 살펴보고자 했다. 바르뗀두의 친영감정과 반영감정이 나타나는 1861년부터 1884년까지의 문학과 비문학을 소재와 양식의 측면에서 조사하여 분류하였다. 19세기 중엽 힌디어 문인이 거대 타자인 영국에 대해서 양가적인 정체성을 가지게 되는 이유를 해석하고자 바르뗀두의 사회문화적 배경을 함께 살펴보았다. 이로써 타자에 대한 힌디어문인의 다면적 감정의 분석 및 평가를 위한 연구의 토대를 문헌 조사와 분석과 분류를 통해 마련하였다.

This study is a foundational study to examine the ambivalent feelings that vernacular elites had toward the Other during colonial rule. To this end, as part of the literature study, literature and non-literature from 1861 to 1884, in which the pro-British and anti-British sentiments of Bāratendu, a Hindi writer under British colonial rule in the mid-19th century, were expressed, are examined in terms of material and style. It was investigated and classified. In order to interpret the reasons why hindi elites in the mid-19th century had an ambivalent identity, It is looked at the activities in Bāratendu's life that had an ambivalent identity. Through this, in the conclusion, It is interpreted and evaluated why vernacular elites had no choice but to have an ambivalent identity.
