인터넷 언어 속 중국어 문장 부호의 변이 사용 연구

Abstract

오늘날 인터넷의 발달로 인터넷 환경에서의 글쓰기가 일상화되었다. 인터넷 언어는 형식은 글말이지만 그 형태는 입말에 가깝다. 그래서 글말과 입말의 특징을 모두 갖는 것이 인터넷 언어이다. 실시간 또는 유사 동시성 대화를 특징으로 하는 인터넷 언어는 사회통념상의 규범 언어와 비교하였을 때 생략, 줄임말, 동음어, 이모티콘 등의 변이가 발달한 독특한 언어적 특성을 보인다. 문장 부호 또한 같은 맥락에서 변이가 생기는데 대표적인 것이 바로 문장 부호의 형태가 바뀌고 감정 전달의 기능이 크게 부각된다는 것이다. 인터넷 언어 환경에서는 비언어적 정보의 전달이 원활하지 않다. 그러나 인간은 언어적 의사소통과 비언어적 의사소통이 상충 될 때 언어적 정보보다 비언어적 정보를 우선해서 받아들이는 경향이 있다. 이에 대화 참여자들은 이를 보완하기 위해 감정 색채나 심리 상태를 간편하고 효율적으로 표현할 수 있는 문장 부호를 선호하게 되었다. 그 양상으로는 문장 부호의 생략, 중복사용, 조합사용, 문장 부호의 변형, 문장 부호 기능의 변이, 문법 기능의 변이, 타 문장 부호로 대체 등이 있다. 이는 인터넷이라는 특정한 언어 환경에서 경제성의 추구, 구어성의 반영, 특정한 감정의 전달, 문맥 효과의 극대화 등과 같은 효과를 추구하는 데서 비롯된 것이다. 문장 부호를 규범 용법에 맞게 쓰는 것이 원칙이다. 그러나 표현의 효과를 배가할 수 있는 변이 용법의 존재를 부정하는 것도 바람직하지 않다. 변이 용법은 비규범적인 용법이기는 하지만 잘못된 용법과는 다르기 때문이다.

The rise of the internet has made online writing a common practice. Internet language, while having a formal structure, resembles spoken language. It combines features from both written and spoken forms. This language is marked by real-time or quasi-synchronous conversation, and it introduces unique features like omission, abbreviations, homophones, and emoticons, differing from traditional social language. In this context, punctuation in internet language undergoes variations, notably changing in form and emphasizing emotions. Despite the internet's challenges in smoothly conveying non-verbal information, people tend to prioritize non-verbal cues over linguistic ones in communication. Consequently, participants in online conversations prefer punctuation that efficiently expresses emotions and psychological states. This preference results in variations like omitting punctuation, overlapping use, combining punctuation, transforming its form, changing its functions, altering grammatical functions, and using substitute punctuation marks. These variations stem from the pursuit of linguistic efficiency, reflecting colloquialism, effectively conveying emotions, and maximizing contextual effects in the unique online language environment. While adhering to punctuation norms is important, it's also valuable to recognize variant usages that enhance expressive effects. These variations, distinct from incorrect usage, contribute to the richness of expressive language.
