공동의 세계에서 성장하는 법 -최근 청소년소설에 나타난 비인간 행위자를 중심으로-

Abstract

최근 청소년소설에서는 인간과 비인간, 인간과 자연, 인간과 기술이 동등하고 대칭적이며 상보적인 관계로 연결되어 있다는 사유를 전제로 비인간 행위자가 다수 등장하고 있다. 이 글은 비인간 행위자를 통하여 ‘지금-여기’의 문제들을 비판적으로 다루는 청소년소설인 천선란의 『나인』(2021), 배미주의 『싱커(개정판)』(2022), 김중미의 『느티나무 수호대』(2023)를 함께 살펴보면서 청소년소설이 포스트휴먼적 전회를 다루는 방식을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 청소년문학이 나아가야 할 방향을 가늠해 보고자 했다. 『나인』은 ‘외계-식물-지구인-여성-청소년’인 나인의 용감하고도 정의로운 행동을 통해, 『싱커』는 비인간 행위자와의 연결된 신체를 이용하여 열린 세계로의 이주를 감행하는 싱커들을 통해, 『느티나무 수호대』는 인간의 몸으로 변신하여 마을의 아이들을 돌보는 당산나무 느티 샘을 통해 인간과 비인간의 연결/얽힘/네트워킹/연대의 가능성과 방향성을 제시한다. 무엇보다 이 소설들은 인류세와 기후 위기 시대에 청소년소설이 ‘성장’을 상상하고 말하는 방법이 달라져야 함을 역설한다. 인간과 비인간 행위자의 관계성을 중심으로 서사를 구축해 나가는 『나인』, 『싱커』, 『느티나무 수호대』는 미래사회를 이끌어 갈 현재의 청소년 독자들에게 필요한, 인간중심주의를 극복하고자 하는 포스트휴먼의 감수성을 잘 보여 주는 청소년소설들이라 할 수 있다

In recent youth novels, a number of non-human actors have appeared on the premise that human beings and non-human beings, human beings and nature, and human and technology are connected in equal, symmetrical and complementary relationships. In response, this paper aims to analyze the way youth novels deal with non-human actors by examining Cheon Seon-ran, Bae Mi-Joo and Kim Jung-mi's youth novels, which critically deals with the problems of "Now-Here" through non-human actors, and to gauge the direction in which youth novels should go. Nine, Syncher, and Zelkova tree guard show the possibility and direction of the connection, entanglement, solidarity, and network between humans and non-humans, through Nine which is an alien-plant-earth-woman-youth, through the Sinkers who migrate to the open world using their bodies connected to non-human actors and through zelkova tree which transforms into a human body and takes care of the children of the village. Above all, these novels emphasize that the way youth novels should imagine and speak of "growth" in the era of the climate crisis and the Anthropocene should be different.
