중국어 문장 부호 ‘괄호’ 연구

Abstract

문장 부호는 글에서 문장의 구조를 드러내거나 글쓴이의 의도를 전달하기 위하여 사용하는 부호로서 글자와 함께 문장을 이루고 원활하고 논리적인 의사소통을 위하여 필수 불가결한 요소이다. 따라서 문장 부호의 올바른 사용은 의미를 정확하고 효율적으로 전달하기 위하여 매우 중요하다. 그 중 괄호는 문장 중에서 주석의 내용이나 보충 설명 또는 기타 특정한 의미의 어구를 표시할 때 쓰는 문장 부호이다. 괄호의 형식으로는 원괄호, 방괄호, 육각괄호, 방두괄호 등이 있는데, 그 기본형은 원괄호이다. 원괄호는 주석이나 보충 설명을 할 때, 어떤 문자를 교정하거나 추가할 때, 열거의 순서를 나타내는 어구에, 인용문의 출처를 표기할 때, 한어병음을 표기할 때 주로 사용한다. 나머지 괄호들은 원괄호에 비해 그 사용이 제한적이다. 저자의 국적 또는 살았던 시대를 표기할 때 방괄호 또는 육각괄호를, 신문에서 전신이나 보도의 제자란을 표시할 때 방두괄호를, 공문서의 공표년도를 표기할 때 육각괄호를, 주석이 달린 단어나 구를 표기할 때 육각괄호 또는 방두괄호를 쓸 수 있다. 본 연구는 괄호의 기본 용법 이외에도 구내괄호와 구외괄호의 구분, 괄호와 파절호의 차이 등 사용상의 주의할 점과 오류에 대하여, 그리고 현행 규정에서 개선해야할 사항을 다루고 있다. 더 나아가 새로운 현상으로 인터넷 언어에서의 괄호의 변이 현상을 다루었는데, 이는 괄호의 변이 사용이며 문장 부호의 새로운 용법이라 할 것이다. 본 연구는 문장 부호에 대한 이해를 높이고 문장 부호의 올바른 사용에 기여함으로써 특히 한국인 중국어 학습자와 사용자들이 중국어 글쓰기에서 더 좋은 결과를 가져올 것으로 판단한다.

This research explores the appropriate use of ‘bracket’ in Chinese sentences. As an indicator of punctuation use, it has a few roles in sentence including: 1. The indication of annotated words, phrases, or sentences, 2. The supplementation of explanations, or 3. The highlighting of phrases. This research also dealt with its appropriate functions and usage of bracket in Chinese from a Chinese perspective. According to Chinese Punctuation Code or practices, brackets can be classified into four types: parenthesis, square brackets, hexagonal brackets, and square head brackets. The implication is that Chinese learners should become aware of the usage classification of each type of brackets for the fulfillment of professional writing and for understanding the intention of an original author. In a nutshell, the use of parentheses within a sentence and those outside a sentence differs, depending on the target or location in a sentence. In regards to the latter, the parenthesis location, this research also discussed some possible improvements of the Chinese Punctuation Code. Finally, this research examined the phenomenon of a variety of bracket usage on the Internet. In particular, as a secondary communication, translation can be naturally completed with appropriate use and the understanding of brackets. It helps convey the feelings or intentions of an original author equivalently when correctly employed and deciphered.
